1. Top Takeaways
to Excite the
Next
Generation
This slideshow is produced by GGS Structures Inc.
2. Trade Show
Swag:
Everyone loves a good giveaway, and
after the Halloween like haul my kids
came away with, I am sure I will have no
trouble getting them to come to
Cultivate 15.
Benary certainly raised the bar with the
cowboy hats this year.
3. Bus Tours:
The tour programs are a great way for
you to work on your business while not
working in your business. This is a habit
many entrepreneurs struggle to acquire,
and one that is critical to long term
growth. Challenge everyone in your
group to find one thing you should try
to make your greenhouse, nursery, or
garden center better. If the suggestion
from a young team member is not too
costly or too risky, follow through by
letting them implement it, monitor and
report on the success or failure of their
experiment.
4. Seminars:
With 184 Sessions it is not difficult to
find something of interest to people of
all ages. Some advanced planning will
really help engage younger family
members. Discuss the sessions that are
important to you and why, but don’t
forget to make room in your schedule to
attend a couple sessions of their choice
as well. The best way to get them
interested in our industry is to learn
about what interests them.
5. Cool Stuff :
Horticulture has a lot of great new
technology in our industry; from
Robots, to Google Glass, to Drones.
Excite the younger members with the
technology of the future.
Their future is our industry future.
6. Awards:
Who doesn’t love to win something?
And besides fostering a competitive
attitude is one of the cornerstones of
entrepreneurial development.
So hats off to the folks that sponsor and
present the various awards, and in
particular the awards that are geared
towards up and comers:
Red Fox/Green Profit Young Retailer Award
Red Fox/GrowerTalks Young Grower Awards
GPN’s top 40 under 40.
Greenhouse Grower: Grower of the Year
9. Cool Stuff:
Special thanks to Formflex for loaning
Grandpa the use of their Virto to tour
the grandkids around the tradeshow in
the most awesome fashion.
And if you haven’t yet, don’t forget to
