Itis Believed that Saint
Valentine was a
Roman bishop who lived in the
third century.
Then the
Roman Emperor Claudius II
had issued an order
prohibiting marriage
The Emperor thought that
married men
are more emotionally attached to
their families and they can’t be
good warriors
3. The Bishop Valentine, seeing
the young people's pain, married them
secretly.
When Claudius II
heard about the bishop's conduct, Valentine
was arrested and shut down in the prison,
where on February 14th Valentine was put
on death punishment.
After some time, Valentine was declared as a
saint.

5. LUPERCALIUS
February 14th could be associated with
the ancient Roman feast - Lupercalius.
Under
the current calendar, February was the
beginning of spring, and Lupercalius
- spring and love feast. In
ancient Rome, young boys
and girls were strictly segregated lives,
but during this holiday tradition made
it possible to make friends and couples.

VERY RECENT IN LITHUANIA
- IT IS CELEBRATED ONLY
AFTER INDEPENDENCE DAY
IN 1990. SO THE CELEBRATION
TRADITIONS IS STILL BEING
WORKED OUT. BUT
THE LITHUANIANS DON’T
FORGET TO MENTION THIS
DAY IN A CERTAIN WAY.
7. To this day is given less attention because
the Valentine's Day is next to the
February 16th - Lithuanian Independence
Day.
