2. According to the author the humming of the
insects in the bedroom is as good as the buzz of
the dentist’s drill or the sawmill.
The bee and the wasp are considered to be the
noble insects , the bee is morally higher
because it does not bite without provocation.
The victims of the angry bee in the lesson were
– a dog, a turkey – as it doesn’t see where to
relieve its anger and at times these innocent
animals become its victims.
3. The bee is considered to be morally higher because
it does not give malaria but honey instead. It helps
in multiplying the fruits and aims at living a quiet
life.
The best way to prevent a wasp from stinging is to
lie still and hold the breath. It is an “infallible
preventive”.
The other sounds that delight the author are – the
rhythm of wave , a bird or insect and the rhythm
of our own breath and blood. These are the sounds
which make us feel that we are alive.
4. He describes them as a millionfold chorus, they have a
magnified echo – one feels the pleasure of being alive.
The music is beyond any music of instruments.
According to him it is a part of universal music.
The hum of insects reminds him of other springs and
summers in the garden. It reminds of infinite peace and
the day when garden itself was the unlimited world.
The three noises that can give infinite pleasure are
noise of birds, seas and our own blood moving in the
veins or the heartbeats. These make us realize that we
are still alive and throbbing.
