The Hanging Gardens
of Babylon King Nebuchadnezzar II it for one of his wives. They
approximately 400 feet square and 75 feet above the
ground. Slaving working shifts screws to lift water
from the Euphrate Rivers to irrigate the trees, shrubs and
flowers. This water irrigates the whole garden saturating the
roots of plants and keeping the whole area moist.
There is no physical evidence of the gardens, but many people
still for them.

of Olympia
Build: about 435 B.C.
Location: the Ancient
Greek City of Olympia
In about 435 B.C. the city of Olympia built a
temple to honour the god Zeus. Athenian sculptor
Phidias created an ivory Zeus seated on a throne.
Eventually, wealthy Greeks decided to move the
statue to a place in Constantinople. However, a
severe fire destroyed the Statue in 462 A.D. The
tools which Phidias used to craft the statue
are safely in a museum for the future
generation to see.
