AIM
• To revise and learn about British cultural issues by playing the British
Citizenship Quiz.
LEXICAL AND GRAMMATICAL AREA
• General formal and informal vocabulary.
• Revision of verbal forms to express obligation and lack of obligation.
TASK
• Players must answer a set of questions divided into three rounds by
showing a card with the correct answer (A, B, C or D).
PREPARATION AND MATERIALS
• PowerPoint presentation of the British Citizenship Quiz.
• A set of cards per group of players.
TIMING
+ 60 minutes.
PROCEDURE
• Divide the class into groups of three or four players and give each group a
pack of cards.
• Tell the students that the quiz is divided into three rounds.
• All teams must answer different questions at the same time by showing the
cards with the correct option. If the answer is correct, each team gets one
point.
• At the end of each round, the team with the highest score gets three extra
points.
• The team with the highest final score at the end of the three rounds is the
winner.
Warn students that they must all show their answer at the same time when the teacher
says, ‘Hands up!’.
