2. Using Storylines Q3.
One of the main storylines in my trailer is teenage pregnancy. The same issue has been
shown on Hollyoaks, this helps me to know that my soap should have the same
conventions as Hollyoaks.
Girls fighting seems to occur a lot in soaps and in every day life, we have brought this
into my trailer to yet again try and link in with the Hollyoaks theme.

3. Targeting audiences Q3.
To appeal to my target age
group of 16-24 year olds, I
will make sure my
characters are dressed how
teenagers would dress, if
they are more mainstream
they would shop at and
wear, for example, clothes
off the high street like
Topshop and H&M.
Mainstream teenagers are more likely to listen to chart music, this is why I have
chosen to use Adele – Set Fire To The Rain as it has done well in the UK Top 40
for a while.

Everyone in the audience seemed to like my soap trailer and thought it fitted in with the
brand’s institution, therefore appealing to my peers. However there were a few points with
the editing which the audience members said could be improved.
I received feedback such as:
“The walking part with the girl and the boy lasted too long”
“The fight/slapping scene should start bang on the chorus”
“The non-diegetic scream was a little out of sync”
However I received some positive feedback such as:
“The narrative was clear”
“The slow-motion parts were effective – typical of the genre”
I have since improved all of what advice that was given to me and have
made all of the amendments have been made to a high standard
