2. Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church
This church is located in
North Hills, CA.
heavily populated by latin
culture, thus leading it to be
a popular church in the
community.
It is a church for hispanics
as well as filipino.
3. Some of the church staff
getting ready to set up for a
mass.
This mass is specially for
the filipino group coming in
as you can see in the
image, the church isnt only
for one culture of people.
4. Church School
While on my visit, I met a couple of
the students that attend the private
school that runs from kindergarten to
eigth grade.
These children learn prayers, history
of their religion, as well as receiving
an education.
The school is diverse in ethnicity,
therefore
5. Here are a couple of people
that just finished attending
mass, and are sitting out in
front of the church.
Many of these people sit
outside or wait to talk to others
just to catch up on social life
events.
6. Jesus Christ
The most iconic symbol of christianityis
Jesus Christ of course.
Here outside of the church is located a
monument of Jesus.
It is respected by all of the chuch
7. Stained Glass
The windows of the church are stained glass
depicting saints of the catholic church.
The Catholic church believes in many saints
which the christian church doesnt believe in, I
dont necessarily know which saints are in the
picture but its something beautiful to look at.
8. Agua Bendita
Or otherwise known as Holy Water. The
water is to have been blessed by a priest
and to be the purest water on earth. Its
uses involve when arriving to church and
forming a cross on your body, to get rid
of any bad forces, or to bless others.
My mother throws some at me before
every game or when I have a really
important test, to bring good luck and
blessing.
9. Virgin Mary
In my home my mother was raised in
Costa Rica, and brought up in a
religious family so therefore she has an
area designated for her religious items.
She brought this item from Costa Rica,
when she migrated in 1992.
So it has much meaning to her, and she
prays to it every night and morning.
10. Santo Rosario
The Santo Rosario is basically a little
pamphlet that contains different prayers to
be said when praying.
As you can see it is heavily worn on the
sides, its been with my mother since she
was a child, and can barely be read now,
luckily my mother memorized it before it
got in this condition.
11. Conformation
After I completed my conformation i
recieved this cross necklace,
symbolizing my faith to god and the
catholic church.
This is suppose to protect you when
worn, it represent your loyalty to god.
