3. Company Background
ASSA Trans Caucasus is based in Georgia, where the Black Sea port of Poti served
as a gateway on the crossroads of the vital East-West transport and trade route as
early as 2000 BC. This strategic port location provides access to all-important
international markets for countries such as landlocked Armenia, oil rich Azerbaijan,
and Georgia itself. Goods are also transported by railway up to Central Asia
(Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan), efficiently crossing the
Caspian Sea by daily rail ferries. Today, shipments are also delivered by rail up to
Afghanistan and by truck to Northern Iran.
Our company incorporated soon after the collapse of the Soviet system, when the new
free market economy opened the way for private shipping enterprises. Established in
2006, we adopted the new brand name of "ASSA Trans Caucasus" after merger and
acquisition in 2010. Our main activities are Maritime Agency, Forwarding and
Inspection Survey, limited only by our region. We are an efficient, effective and
customer-oriented company, led by a team of shipping professionals whose work ethic
and unblemished reputation is well respected throughout the local shipping industry.
We are smart enough to provide tailored solutions, strong enough to protect your
interests, large enough to handle work of any size or nature, but also small enough to
provide a single point of contact, for an efficient and personal service.

ease of doing business worldwide. The Global Corruption Barometer (EU) 2011 ranked Georgia 8th, alongside

COMPETITIVE TRADE REGIMES.
Georgia has low tariffs, streamlined border clearance procedures and preferential trade regimes with major partners,
including the EU, U.S., Turkey and the CIS countries, and exports 7200 products to Europe, duty and quota free.
LOW TAXES.
In 2005, Georgia implemented a new Tax Code that introduced lower, flat tax rates and significant procedural and
institutional innovations. Georgia has the lowest total tax rate in the region, at 38.6 % of profit (World Bank Indicator). The
government is now preparing legislation to reduce rates even further.
FREE INDUSTRIAL ZONES LAW.
The goal of this 2007 law is to create an attractive environment for business, and to promote the inflow of capital and
technologies to Georgia. Free from profit tax, no VAT applicable, and no custom duties.
WORLD’S LEADER IN LABOR FREEDOM.
The country's new Labor Code has been hailed as one of the best in the world. The Heritage Foundation ranks Georgia as
number one in the world in terms of labor freedom, with unmatched flexibility when it comes to managing the workforce.
