2. STATE EMERGENCY SERVICES
(SES)
State Emergency
Services also know as
SES is an Australian
Volunteer
Organisation that
provides emergency
help during and after
declared disasters.
3. STATE EMERGENCY SERVICES
(SES)
The community that benefits from the SES
are the people that end up in situations such
as storm damage, flood damage, traffic
hazards or road crash and bush fires.
4. STATE EMERGENCY SERVICES
(SES)
The SES is well
known publicly,
SES provides a
support roll to
other agencies
particularly, the
Police and Fire
Brigade. The SES
operates 24 hours
a day.
5. STATE EMERGENCY SERVICES
(SES)
Every State and Territory in Australia has
it’s own State or Territory Emergency
Services. There are 43,000 volunteers
spread across the country. Each State or
Territory is broken into Regions then Units
and finally Groups or Teams.
6. STATE EMERGENCY SERVICES
(SES)
The Government funds the SES through State
and Local Governments. SES are also given
donations from individuals, businesses and
other Government grants.
7. STATE EMERGENCY SERVICES
(SES)
The SES volunteers are a special breed of
people who step into dangerous and uncertain
environments to protect the community. The
volunteers are well trained and equipped.
Unfortunately many volunteers loose their
lives saving others.
8. STATE EMERGENCY SERVICES
(SES)
SES is called out to
provide assistance
constantly, as they
offer so many
services and
support so many
organisations.

My next slide is an interview that I did
with my neighbour John. John is a Pilot
for the Westpac Helicopter Rescue
Service. He was nice enough to come
