THE MYSQL ADMINISTRATOR Mysql administrator is a program for performing various adminitrative tasks such as monitering, starting and stopping mysql server and to perform backups and maintain various user connections. Once the mysqladminitrator starts it opens up a connection dialog. Specify the mysql server and all the other details. To use the newly setup server on the same machine user serverhost as ”localhost” and user as “root” Mention your password and click ok.

11. THE MYSQL QUERY BROWSER It’s a tool for creating, executing,editing and optimizing queries in graphical environment. On starting the query browser a connection dialog opens up. Enter the details and your schema.

15. The mysql migration toolkit It’s a graphical tool used to migrate data and schema from various relational database systems to mysql. Toolkit is available only for windows. Migration from external rdbms includes the following steps: 1.source/target selection: specify the source and target.
16. 2.Object selection: select different objects like tables, views etc 3.Object mapping: choose methods for mapping the objects. 4.Manual editing: manually edit the new objects 5.schema creation: a new transformed object is created on the target MYSQL server.

On mysql migration toolkit welcome screen Click on next and Choose either direct migration if the mysql toolkit is installed on both source and target machines Otherwise choose agenda based migration. choose the required database system. can be any one of ms access server,mssqlserver,oracle database server,mysql database server based on the user requirement. To save click on “+” and enter the name of the connection and click “OK”
19. On the target database screen choose mysql server. After selecting the source and target database servers choose the schema you want to migrate. Once the reverse engineering process is completed, choose the number of objects(tables and views) to migrate. On the object mapping screen, choose migration method as generic. Once the meta migration is successful, on manual editing screen select the object and click on details button to edit sql statements.
20. Choose one of the object creation options. Once object creation is completed successfully. on data mapping options screen, you have options either to directly migrate the data on target or create a script file. Data will be converted into MYSQL compatible format and migrated to target file successfully. Summary screen shows the entire migration summary. Save the migration.
