 Monitor the messages of media in your home
Set filters and limits on computer/internet use
Know what devices can and cannot access the
internet

4. Keep Pressure to a Minimum
 General or hypothetical questions are less
confrontational and will be more likely to get an
honest response
 While it’s important to stay connected, don’t
force them to talk
 If you want them to talk, start by talking yourself
 Be ultimatum-free

5. Be Encouraging without
Compromising
 Share the Biblical view for sexuality
 Don’t attempt to fight—you can disagree without
fighting
 Recognize that all sins are equal (nothing your
child has done is more sinful than anything you
have done, and vice versa)
 Acknowledge and affirm their experiences,
insights, and opinions

6. Model, Model, Model!
 Use appropriate language
Don’t make hateful comments or jokes
Speak lovingly to and about everyone—
even if they are sinning
 Be consistent between your behavior and
your teachings

7. Present the Gospel, Not Just Law
Make it clear to them that no matter
what they've done, there is freedom
and life in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Don't just say the Gospel—live it. When
they admit to you that they did
something wrong, forgive them.
