Life on the water characterizes Art and culture
"Unser Planet", Bernd Altenstein (1996)
Domshof
"Beim Bade" von Jürgen Cominotto (1986)
Schnoor, Stavendamm
“Unser Planet” is a statue of the
globe on the Domshof in Bremen-
Mitte. It was erected in 1996 and
illustrates events in human history.
Water pours out of the North Pole
and in different flows over the
whole globe. The water is then
gathered in a paved gutter.
Another statue is placed in Stavendamm in
the Schnoor and is called “Beim Bade”. It was
set up in memory of the old times, when no
private bathrooms existed. If you wanted to
take a bath, you would have to go to the
public baths. The statue is made of bronze
and shows a couple playing with water.
Neptunbrunnen", Waldemar Otto (1991)
Domshof
The “Neptunbrunnen” was erected in
1991 and is seen as a refreshment
venue. The figures from the Greek and
Roman mythology are made of bronze.
Furthermore “Neptune” (or Poseidon)
is inscribed into the figure who is
holding a trident. He is in the position
of power.
