    • It is the biggest country in the entire world and it is twice the size of the united states.
    • Located in Asia and Europe.
    • Capital is Moscow.
  • 2. Russian Flag
    • Red stands for love and courage.
    • White stands for nobility.
    • Blue stands for honesty.
    • Russians have only had their national anthem for 9 years.
  • 3. Borders
    • Asia- China, Mongolia, and Kazakhstan.
    • Europe- Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Belarus, and Ukraine.
    • Oceans- Arctic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean.
  • 4. Land Environment
    • The lower Ural mountains in Russia divide it from the Asian and the European regions.
    • Winters are as long as from November to march except in Siberia where the winters can be as long as nine months.
    • Urban apartments are not as big as regular homes but they are very good for a family of three or less.
    • You can find a lot of oil, natural gas, coal, diamonds and precious metals.
  • 5. Holidays
    • New Year’s day is the most popular in this country.
    • Except Christmas is on January 7 th instead of December 25 th .
    • Victory Day is on May 9 th that celebrates the end of world war 2!
  • 6. Lakes and Rivers
    • The 4 largest rivers in Russia are Lena, Ob, Volga, and Yenisei.
    • They are 4 of the largest rivers in the world as well.
    • The deepest fresh water lake in Russia is Baikal.
  • 7. Sports
    • Russia has many sports but Hockey is the main sport or most popular.
    • You might know a very good NHL player in hockey, his name is Alex Ovechkin.
    • They can’t do many sports because of their long winters.
  • 8. Disease
    • Russia has very good well trained doctors but sometimes the doctors don’t have the tools to save the people who are sick or injured.
    • Cancer is the most popular disease in Russia, especially lung disease because there are a lot of smokers
    • Medical care is free.
  • 9. Marriage
    • People in Russia can only marry in a wedding palace.
    • In Russia the divorce rate is very high!
    • They don’t believe in that kind of commitment for that long.
  • 10. Famous people
    • In 1972-1725 Peter The Great was the emperor of Russia.
    • The national anthem in Russia was by Alexander Alexzandrov in 1944 and was adopted by the Russians in 2001.
    • Kavalchuk a left winger from New Jersey Devils.
  • 11. Transportation
    • Russia has cars and they have grown a lot since the 1980’s.
    • People usually use public transportation but taxis are very expensive in Russia.
    • They don’t use bikes a lot because of their long winters.
  • 12. Education
    • Education is optional for students between ages 6-17.
    • Russia has 33 Cyrillic letters that sound similar to America’s alphabet.
    • Some of the students in America are studying foreign languages like English, French, German, and Spanish.
  • 13. Food
    • In Russia soup is the most common thing to eat there.
    • When the Russians are entertained they put more food on the table that shows them abundance or a lot of.
    • Not much to eat in Russia.

    • Russia is also 6,601,668 square miles!
    • The distance from Moscow to Washington D.C. in America it is approximately 4887.67miles away.
    • Russia’s population is 140 million and is shrinking by 0.47 percent every year.
