2. Possible music genres I could base my
magazine on
• Kerrang – Rock
• NME – Alternative
• Gramophone – Classical
• Country Weekly – Country
• Vibe – RnB/Hip hop
• Smash hits – Pop
3. Possible names for my magazine
• Rock magazine – POW!
• Alternative magazine – NewGen
• Classical magazine – Chorus
• Country magazine – Rural
• Rnb/Hip hop magazine – Tempo
Based on the genres of the magazines I've looked at on the previous slide, I made
up some possible names for my magazine if I based it on one of these genres.
I chose ‘POW!’ for a rock magazine because its a sound that came to mind when
thinking about rock and the sound drums make. I chose ‘NewGen’ as a name for
a magazine that was about alternative music because alternative is a recent type
of music and NewGen is short for new generation. I chose ‘Chorus’ as a name for
a classical magazine because when I think of classical music I think of singing and
a chorus is a group of people singing. ‘Rural’ was the name for a country music
magazine because rural means in the countryside and ‘Tempo’ was the name for
an RnB magazine because the tempo in this genre of music is upbeat and fast.
4. Possible ideas for articles
• From my previous research where I conducted a
questionnaire, I found out that people wanted several
things in a magazine, these were;
• Interviews, Competitions/Freebies, Gossip, Song chart and
Tour dates.
• Depending on what music genre I choose to do, I can create
articles or cover lines such as;
• “Taylor Swift interview” – If it was a country magazine.
• “Top 20 RnB Hits!” – If it was a RnB magazine.
• “Secret snaps of The Arctic Monkeys!” – If it was a Indie
rock magazine.
