1. Steven George Gerrard, MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an
English footballer who plays for and captains both Premier
League club Liverpool and the England national team. He has
played much of his career in a centre midfield role, but he has
also been used as a second striker, holding midfielder, right
back and right winger. Steven Gerrard to me, and many
others, is a hero.
2. • Steven plays for my favourite club, Liverpool. He has played ever since I was born. I grew up
watching Gerrard lead his team through tough times and good times; through victory and defeat;
through hope and doubt. He is a natural born leader, hence why he captains the national team
and his club.
• As a role-model Steven has a never say die attitude, he always plays to the final whistle no
matter what the score, he never gave up even if he was getting smashed. He inspires his team
mates to play better, and he always knows what to say to turn a team filled with doubt into a
team filled with hope. Gerrard portrays a strong value of resilience, he’s determined and
courageous and he consistently applies his resilience to the game and everyday life. He has own
charity organization called the “Steven Gerrard Foundation”, where he funds a program to help
disadvantaged kids through grants and support groups to help work towards a brighter future.
He is committed to helping these young kids find a happier and healthier life; he is committed to
his nation’s soccer team; he is committed to his club soccer team; he is committed to his family.
Commitment is one of the values that make him who he is. Leadership is another value that
Steven Gerrard expresses, and he does so markedly. He is known for being a leader, he carries the
weight of the team, fans and pressure of soccer on his shoulders and leads the way towards the
end goal, a beacon of hope he has become. He is as inspirational as any world renowned leader
should be, he has a brilliant mind and he is capable of knowing just what to say in any situation
to get people to do better for the better.
