David Gerstein Sculptures - 5 of his Best Sculptures
1. David Gerstein Sculptures - 5 of his Best Sculptures
David Gerstein, also known as Dudu
Gerstein, is not just a popular painter
and sculptor in Israel but his works have
created a cult like following across the
world. He is indisputably one of the
finest among contemporary painters and
sculptors. David Gerstein set out on his
journey with painting, primarily inspired
by his life in Tel Aviv, but then he
created some masterpieces which have
transcended boundaries and transformed
erstwhile conventions of art and
sculpture.
Here are some of the best David
Gerstein sculptures.
Momentum by David Gerstein
Momentum is one of the more well known David Gerstein sculptures. The metal sculpture stands tall
in the business district of Singapore. Momentum is also the tallest public sculpture in Singapore.
Installed in 2008, Momentum isn’t just a bright and colorful sculpture. It depicts the very spirit of
Singapore and those who have made it a great nation. Being at the heart of the financial district the
sculpture stands bright with its myriad hues reflecting how people of the erstwhile and present
generation have collectively contributed to the progress of the country. The sculpture is also an
integral part of many sightseeing tours in the city.
Ohel Moed by David Gerstein
Ohel Moed is an amazing free standing sculpture which is located at the Sculpture Park of Hatzerim.
It is near Beer Sheva in Negev, Israel. The sculpture is like a pyramid, except it is made of steel. The
three sides of the pyramid depict three religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam. The tip of the
pyramid is the meeting point of the three major religions in the world and atop stands a prophet
aiming at the sky, implying that he is aiming or pointing towards God.
Sun Rise by David Gerstein
There are more popular and also more complex pieces of painting and sculptures by David Gerstein
but there are a few things about Sun Rise which make it one of the best. The simple yet bright
depiction of the sun, in plain old fashioned yellow, with humans depicting twelve hours or half a day
and each figurine coming in unique shades to showcase how things change over time is simple yet
extremely evocative. Sun Rise is located at a high school in Ashkelon, Israel.
Noel Des Alps by David Gerstein
2. This sculpture is located at Annecy in France. It is a simple sculpture of a man riding a bicycle, a
repetitive theme in David Gerstein art sculptures, but the relevance of the sculpture to the local
culture and the contrast with the backdrop is what makes this piece a gem.
Silly Cows Valley by David Gerstein
Silly Cows Valley was installed at Euroshop in 2002. The sheer level of detailing and the generous
use of bold and unique hues make this wall-art one of a kind.
