SAFETY RULES FOR WALKING
1. Walk upright with good posture
2. Wear appropriate shoes
3. Consider weather conditions and dress accordingly
4. Let someone know where you are going and when to expect you to return
5. Take your cell phone
6. Walk on the side of the road facing traffic
7. Wear reflective clothing or carry a flashlight if walking at night or dusk
8. Carry a personal alarm, load whistle, or pepper spray.
9. Use only one ear-bud when listening to music
10. Carry your ID and/or Med-alert if you need one
11. Don’t display jewelry or expensive devices, keep clothing “unremarkable”
12. Leave purses, or any large bags at home
13. Walk with a dog or friend if possible
14. Know where you are and how to get home
15. Stay aware of your surroundings at all times
