Velocity based Devices A velocity based device measures the velocity of the flow through a device of known internal capacity. The speed of the flow can then be converted into volume of flow to determine the total usage. These devices can also calculate the amount of flow to determine the usage on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. There are several type of devices that measure the velocity of the flow like, multi jet, fire turbines, fire hydrant turbines, compound, electromagnetic, ultrasonic etc. What kind of a device you can use depends solely upon the kind of system you have implemented in the house/commercial building or how much money you can spend on the maintenance of these devices as some of these are quite expensive.
