2. Original equilibrium
At the beginning of the video we are
introduced to Enrique and the girl
kissing, they are clearly happy. Due to
the mesenscene of his clothing, such as
close up shots of his sunglasses and
slow motion shots of the girls short skirt
to make them seem attractive,
indicating that he is the “hero” this is
further confirmed by the lyrics “I can be
your hero baby”
However we are introduced to the fact
that there is underlying conflict initially
due to shots of a bag wit money in,
suggesting there is an underlying
storyline, this is further confirmed when
we see cross cuts of a man dressed in
black, seeming to be following them due
to the mesenscene of the mans black
clothing and unattractive evil looking face
indicates that he is the villain this is
juxtaposed to Enrique and the girls
attractive appearance.
3. Disruption
The pressure increases, the villains
are given more and more airtime
throughout until the two sets of
characters meet. The tension is
built by the large number of men
confirming the fact that they are
outnumbered. The villains are
defined by there black clothing,
which is heavily juxtaposed to the
girls white dress.
4. there is recognition of the the
disruption when we see Enrique tied
up and crying on a street. The villains
have vanished from the scene and
our full attention is drawn back to
them. His pain and suffering is
confirmed due to the narrative of him
singing "I can kiss away the pain”
which corresponds to footage of his
hand bleeding
Recognition of disruption
5. Attempt to restore original equilibrium
The affects of the disruption are
increased however there original
equilibrium is attempted to be restored
as Enrique and the girl are reunited, they
are hugging each other. However there
disruption and heartache is confirmed
when we see close up shots of his
bleeding hand, the intensity also
increases when it begins to rain.
We can assume that the original
equilibrium has been reached
once Enrique has died because
the girl is free.
