CAREER STAGES OF AMITABH BACHCHAN

Career stages of Mr. Amitabh Bachchan -:
1. Growth or Development stage -:
This stage begins from birth and normally lasts until 14 years old. This stage helps us to
develop a self-concept by identifying and interacting with other people such as family,
friends and teachers. Amitabh Bachchan was born in Allahabad on 11 October 1942, to
Dr. Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan. First before Amitabh, he was initially
named Inquilsaab. But by the suggestion of Sumitranandan pant, his name changed to
Amitabh which means "the light that would never go off ". Amitabh surname was
shrivastava but because of his father’s pen name, he replaced it with bachchan.
Bachchan studied in Allahabad at Jnana Prabodhini and Boys' High School.
2. Exploration stage -:
This stage often lasts from 15 years old to 24 years old. In this stage the most important
task was of developing realistic understanding of his abilities and talents. Amitabh
bachchan completed his education at Sherwood College in Bachelor of Science degree
from Nainital and Double MA (Master of Arts) from Kirori Mal College, Delhi University.
His mother had some degree of influence in Bachchan's choice of career because she
always insisted that he should take the centre stage. He was developed in taking
educational decisions based on reliable sources of information about occupational
objectives. His first job was in Shaw Wallace. Amitabh later worked as a freight broker
for a shipping firm called Bird and Co. in Kolkata and also as a radio announcer in vividh
bharati. He gave up all his jobs to pursue a career in acting.
3. Establishment stage -:
This stage spans roughly ages 25 to 45 and is the heart of most people’s work lives. In
1969 Amitabh made his first debut with Saat Hindustani. The movie does not do a good
business but Bachchan won his first National Film Award for Best Newcomer. In
beginning it was very difficult for him to find out suitable occupation but at last he find out
his occupation and help him to earn a permanent place in film industry. At that time his
career was not developing because he was giving back to back flop movies. But after
this various movies came like Reshma Aur Shera, Parwana, and Anand in 1971 all were
flops. His career started increasing in a great manner when he was doing a lead role in
zanjeer and it was a huge success at box office. He was nominated in Filmfare first time
for best actor in zanjeer. He gave various successful movies which we can’t describe.
Bachchan is known for his deep, baritone voice. On 26 July 1982, while doing a fighting
scene in coolie, his abdomen was struck by the corner of the table; he lost a significant
amount of blood. His illness made him feel weak both mentally and physically and he
decided to quit films and venture into politics. This was his trial sub stage where the
person determines whether or not the chosen field is suitable, if it is not, several
changes might be attempted. His political career was also not successful; Accusations of
him being involved in the Bofors Scandal made him quit politics, although, later on, he
was proved innocent. After this he set up A.B.C.L in 1996, but it was a great disaster in
his life because the movies which they produced was not successful and sponsorship of
1996 Miss World beauty pageant, Bangalore lost millions of A.B.C.L which he was not
able to recover and his Bombay house was going to sold. That time he was in a bad
situation by which he was not able to understand what he has to do. Anti-Sikh riots also
created a problem for him. This was his mid career crises sub stage. In this stage he
was struggling a lot, various problems were occurring that time. His friends helped him a
lot to overcome all his problems and put him in a good condition.

4. Maintenance stage-:
After his huge loss in A.B.C.L, he came in the television industry i.e. Kaun Banega
Crorepati which was a great success and also helped him to recover all his loans. He
also started his career in film industry with a box office hit Mohabbatein. Amitabh
bachchan has created a place in the film industry and most efforts were directed in
maintaining that place by doing more and more movies, television shows like big boss
and Kaun Banega Crorepati. He is in the maturity stage of his life from my point of view
his decline stage has not come till now. Some mishappenings came in his life but he
fought with all of those problems and today he is a successful person. The Government
of India awarded him with the Padma Shri and the Padma Bhushan . Amitabh bachchan
has also got the opportunity as a wax modelled at London's Madame Tussauds Wax
Museum.
5. Decline stage-:
This is a retirement stage, it comes after age 60. A.B.C.L put Amitabh bachchan in the
declining stage, his goodwill was lost. He has to do those movies which were not of his
type. But he was recovered from all his bad conditions and today he is the superstar. In
this stage he has learned how to face with various problems and don’t be a quitter.
Amitabh bachchan life was filled with struggle, he has not got success in one night but
he worked hard for that. From my point of view his retirement stage will come after 75
years and he is the actor who is working now also.
