9 Weight Loss Triggers 
So now that we’ve talked about Fat Triggers it’s only fair we should talk about weight loss triggers as well. 
I believe everyone has a trigger which starts the weight loss engine. Everyone. 
1. Adding that extra session 
Sometimes an extra trip to the gym, an extra 30 min of running or swimming can make that difference that triggers weight loss. Especially if you hit a plateau in your journey. 
2. A change in routine 
Find a sport you like instead of going to the gym all the time. Or maybe change your routine, instead of body weight go for weights or vice versa. Start swimming or cycling. Maybe even take running outdoor, it can make that small difference in your weight loss journey but one that counts. 
3. A change in your lifestyle 
I am not talking here about nutrition, even if that is a weight loss trigger itself. I am talking about changes in lifestyle. 
Lowering stress levels, taking time off, spending time with your family, meditation and even sleep a bit more can actually help you lose weight. 
Another trigger is to stop trying so hard. Losing weight is a long journey and if you burn out mentally and physically you will just end up giving up. 
Because weight loss is not a quick thing you can actually activate the Stress Fat Trigger and so you will end up putting weight back on or stop losing it.

4. Have a purpose 
Losing weight it is not a purpose itself. It’s more of a goal. 
Think about why you are trying to lose weight? 
What will losing weight do for you? Imagine yourself skinny, what and how do you feel? 
If you are ok with it, you know just thinking “it would be cool to be skinny”, there is no emotion attached then weight loss is not that important for you. 
Instead of making weight loss a must have otherwise you will not be happy with yourself, try to have smaller goals you can achieve in the mean time. A 5k , a Spartan Race, a cycling event, climb a mountain etc. 
And so the purpose of you losing weight is to get to finish those events or climb that mountain. Weight loss will come with it. 
This is something you can achieve sooner and it will also take you mind off losing weight, this leads to less stress and the engine will start. 
5. A change in your nutritional habits 
This is usually the situation in most cases. 
Maybe you are having too much or too less fats or carbs. Yes, carbs are important for weight loss, you need to have the energy to burn those calories, it’s the source of the carbs that we don’t get quite right. 
Everyone needs a certain nutrient balance that is particular to one person only. No two bodies are the same so no two weight loss journeys shall be the same. 
Or maybe you don't eat enough home cooked food or maybe too much. How often do u go out by the way? 
How about alcohol? Alcohol has 7 calories per gram, that’s more than carbs 4 cal per gram or protein 4 cal per gram. 
The beauty of experimenting is that it results in knowing your body and yourself, it is a journey to self discovery and self awareness. After this journey you will know exactly how and what your body needs. 
And you know what there is no one who can do it for you, it is your journey, your beautiful experience.
6. Finding your passion and blend it into your current lifestyle 
Doing something you don’t like just for the sake of it is actually a another Fat Trigger because it causes emotional unbalances and stress. 
Ok, maybe you will not go to your boss and hand in your notice. There is a more simple solution. You can find your passion and make it a hobby. Something that you look forward to when you get home or before you go to bed. 
Just make it something special you do when you are alone. And make sure you are alone for a while every single day. 
Remember that if you do not take care of yourself how are you suppose to take care of your family? [pullquote]If you have a clear mind your family with benefit a lot more than if you are stressed.[/pullquote] 
7. Food diary – Awareness 
This is a very important step in weight loss. It makes you aware of what you eat and how much you eat. Don’t think that you know what you eat every day. 
It just doesn’t work like that. Writing it down, taking pictures of what you eat and drink or using apps such as My Fitness Pal will have an impact on your awareness and thus on your weight loss journey. 
8. Eating slow – Mindfulness 
Again this is a very important element when losing weight. Eating slow, actually chewing the food will make your digestive system work less but better and you will get more nutrients from the food you eat and send them faster to where they need to get. 
You will also eat less quantity and so less calories if you are concerned with calorie counting. 
9. Drinking water 
I’ve dedicated a separate bullet point for this one. Since I was a child my mother always told me to drink water before and after my meal.
Now I know that water helps digestion and, according to some research, helps with weight loss. 
But not only that, water fills up your stomach and you end up eating less that usual. Eating less means you will be less bloated but most importantly you take in less calories. 
If you drink water and eat slow you are on your way to start or restart your weight loss engine and losing weight will become something you don’t even think about, it will just come natural.

  • 2. 4. Have a purpose Losing weight it is not a purpose itself. It’s more of a goal. Think about why you are trying to lose weight? What will losing weight do for you? Imagine yourself skinny, what and how do you feel? If you are ok with it, you know just thinking “it would be cool to be skinny”, there is no emotion attached then weight loss is not that important for you. Instead of making weight loss a must have otherwise you will not be happy with yourself, try to have smaller goals you can achieve in the mean time. A 5k , a Spartan Race, a cycling event, climb a mountain etc. And so the purpose of you losing weight is to get to finish those events or climb that mountain. Weight loss will come with it. This is something you can achieve sooner and it will also take you mind off losing weight, this leads to less stress and the engine will start. 5. A change in your nutritional habits This is usually the situation in most cases. Maybe you are having too much or too less fats or carbs. Yes, carbs are important for weight loss, you need to have the energy to burn those calories, it’s the source of the carbs that we don’t get quite right. Everyone needs a certain nutrient balance that is particular to one person only. No two bodies are the same so no two weight loss journeys shall be the same. Or maybe you don't eat enough home cooked food or maybe too much. How often do u go out by the way? How about alcohol? Alcohol has 7 calories per gram, that’s more than carbs 4 cal per gram or protein 4 cal per gram. The beauty of experimenting is that it results in knowing your body and yourself, it is a journey to self discovery and self awareness. After this journey you will know exactly how and what your body needs. And you know what there is no one who can do it for you, it is your journey, your beautiful experience.

Finding your passion and blend it into your current lifestyle Doing something you don’t like just for the sake of it is actually a another Fat Trigger because it causes emotional unbalances and stress. Ok, maybe you will not go to your boss and hand in your notice. There is a more simple solution. You can find your passion and make it a hobby. Something that you look forward to when you get home or before you go to bed. Just make it something special you do when you are alone. And make sure you are alone for a while every single day. Remember that if you do not take care of yourself how are you suppose to take care of your family? [pullquote]If you have a clear mind your family with benefit a lot more than if you are stressed.[/pullquote] 7. Food diary – Awareness This is a very important step in weight loss. It makes you aware of what you eat and how much you eat. Don’t think that you know what you eat every day. It just doesn’t work like that. Writing it down, taking pictures of what you eat and drink or using apps such as My Fitness Pal will have an impact on your awareness and thus on your weight loss journey. 8. Eating slow – Mindfulness Again this is a very important element when losing weight. Eating slow, actually chewing the food will make your digestive system work less but better and you will get more nutrients from the food you eat and send them faster to where they need to get. You will also eat less quantity and so less calories if you are concerned with calorie counting. 9. Drinking water I’ve dedicated a separate bullet point for this one. Since I was a child my mother always told me to drink water before and after my meal.
  • 4. Now I know that water helps digestion and, according to some research, helps with weight loss. But not only that, water fills up your stomach and you end up eating less that usual. Eating less means you will be less bloated but most importantly you take in less calories. If you drink water and eat slow you are on your way to start or restart your weight loss engine and losing weight will become something you don’t even think about, it will just come natural.
