Work at SlideShare

Like SlideShare? Want to join the team that is building it?

Working at SlideShare is an amazing experience. Social software is a whole lot of fun: the technical challenges, the high-profile nature of the work (how often can you show your friends & family what you did at work last week?), the fast changing internet landscape, and the constant feedback from users, make it a different ball-game than the usual technical work. Benefits include:

  • Experience with cutting edge open-source technology
  • Working with a team of bright, enthusiastic people in a "No-BS" environment where you can focus on creating great technology that is used by millions of people every day
  • Competitive Salary
  • Stock options
  • Perks include getting to print your personal blog's URL on your visiting card :-)

We're currently hiring for a number of positions at our New Delhi office

  • System Administrator
Linux-friendly? Worked on a big cluster of machines before? Like learning cool open-source infrastructure tools like Memcached, MogileFS, and Monit (and that's just the "M"s ;->)? We're looking for junior sysadmins as well as senior cluster-masters. Must be able to come up with creative solutions to problems, be passionate about automation of mundane tasks and enjoy the hard problems involved with putting technologies in place to do real-time system monitoring, load balancing. We have an innovative architecture, and you'll play a pivotal role in scaling our systems out to hundreds of servers, using automation, virtualization, and web infrastructure technologies like Amazon EC2 and S3.

  • QA Engineer
Are you a real quality geek? As SlideShare gets bigger and bigger, ensuring the overall quality of our system has become a full-time job. Both junior and senior postions are available. If you're been testing web systems for a year or so, or if you have training in quality management, you might be a good fit. A senior candidate should be passionate about automating testing, and will have mastery of the technologies required to do so (e.g. WATIR).

  • Lead Blogger
SlideShare is looking to recruit a blogger. Yes, you read this right...a blogger! This is a content oriented position with a great mix of responsibilities- writing for our blogs, exercising editorial control over our site's content, be SlideShare's public face on our community forums, engage with users from across the world to elicit feedback that dovetails into product design decisions etc. Perks include getting to play a lead role in deciding what goes on our homepage ;->), reading feedback emails in Swahili, Hebrew & Icelandic !!! . Desired background - MUST be a prolific blogger, passion for Web 2.0, excellent written & oral language skills; prior background in social media, mass communication, web design may help.

  • Office Manager
SlideShare is looking for an Office Manager 2.0; somebody who can run our office on a daily basis- deal with accounts & banking, schedule interviews, interact with vendors to make sure the office runs without a hitch etc. This is a great opportunity for someone with a inclination in admin/HR/accounts to be part of the Web 2.0 excitement.

  • Web Designer
This position is for someone who can do the full range of design, from interaction design (working out flows and screen layouts) through graphic design (making it look pretty) and web design (making the final html / css elegant, efficient, and maintainable). SlideShare makes heavy use of javascript and Flash, and has some of the best front-end engineers in the world. We need to compliment that with world-class web design talent. If you want to participate in creating rich, light, effective web experiences that are as easy to use as they are addictive, this is the position for you.

  • Front-End Software Engineer
SlideShare is looking for first-rate engineering talent. Here's the deal: we don't care what school you went to, or what grades you got there. We care about what you have DONE- maybe independent or freelance projects that are visible on the web? We're looking for web-savvy hackers who know JavaScript and Flash and PHP, and can use them to full effect in creating amazing web applications. We use Ruby as a programming language, but experience with Ruby is not a prerequisite; PHP or even Java is fine.

  • Back-End Software Engineer
If you're a back-end junkie, and love hacking Linux systems, deep algorithmic work (search, recommendation engines, etc), SQL tuning and optimization, and modifying open-source code to your own twisted purposes, then you might be a good fit for a back-end position. Same policy applies to back-enders as to front-enders: the ideal candidate will be able to show us what they are capable of, ideally as a contribution to an open-source project or some independent work.
