MissionStatement: “Our mission to inspire and nurture the human spirit – one
person, one cup, and one neighborhood at a time.”
Strategic Goals:
Starbucks is the industry leader in the food services sector. They are striving
to further establish market share with pricing techniques. Their pricing techniques
are a specific plan that forces the hand of the competition and generates revenue.
Starbucks is also using community outreach programs to ethically engage the
communities they move into. This strategic leadership initiative is a long-term plan
that Starbucks has been promoting for many years.
Strategies Used:
Starbucks utilizes brand loyal customers to dictate and separate themselves
from the competition by using pricing strategies. They universally raise their prices
on certain menu items to generate profits needed to further expand. Rival
companies are forced to raise prices as to not seem the bargain alternative. Rival
companies simply cannot match Starbucks in the volume of brand loyal customers,
making their decisions more reactionary and dictated.
2. Starbucks is an expansion based business that offers their customers
familiarity. Starbucks utilizes this business model to push their community growth
initiatives. This allows Starbucks to further marry the company to the individual
community they expand to. They donate beverages and snacks to local PTO, law
enforcement and other community service workers. Starbucks also promotes local
and worldwide non-profit organizations within each store. This bond between
company and community gives Starbucks the ability to apply other business
offerings as well as employment opportunities. Employment opportunities that
start above minimum wage with benefits that increase with prolonged employment.
