mind!

8. Core Roles used in South Africa
User/End User
˃ SharePoint is just another business tool that enables them to get
their job done
˃ User Adoption has to be done properly or else project will fall flat
˃ These people need constant communication and ‘hand holding’
˃ Primarily update and upload documents

Site Owner
˃ Creates and manages all the team & project documentation
˃ In charge of all communication and information for the site (and sub
sites)
˃ Usually Instructor led but have a good understanding of site
administration, security and content creation

Site Collection Administrator
˃ Bridge between Business and SharePoint Team
˃ Manage and administer site content making sure that the correct
governance is in place
˃ Need training on specific tasks and governance
˃ Must understand how Lists and Libraries work

Helpdesk Administrator
˃ Supports all users in the Organisation. Will need to have an
understanding of other technologies too
˃ Need to be patient with excellent communication skills

Farm Administrator
˃ Runs the production, pilot, test and development environments
˃ Control the application on the Operating System (and above) and
help execute approved change requests
˃ Have FULL Administrator rights
˃ An essential member of the SharePoint Team and frequently
collaborates with other Farm Administrators and Site Collection
Managers to resolve problems, assist with issues or knowledge
transfer

˃ Someone with a holistic view and approach to the platform
˃ Has a high level overview of SharePoint’s Capabilities

˃ Needed for any customisation – Extending Platforms, Apps,
Workflows, UI/Branding, CSR
˃ Most common base skill = .NET
˃ Should have full control of non-production systems
˃ Manage site layout and structure

˃ Could also be a generic IT BA with solid business acumen
˃ Would need to have a high level understanding of Knowledge
Management
˃ Needs to compose excellent documentation that translates Business
needs to the Techies
