● Created by the American Indian Tribes in New
England and southeastern Canada more than
1000 years ago, making it the oldest team sport
on Earth and the oldest sport in North America.
● The only sport that recognizes the “Six Nations”
(Haudenosaunee) in international competition
● Discovered by French Explorers in 1636 and
named “Lacrosse” because of the stick’s
resemblance to a catholic scepter cross.
● Modern lacrosse exists in 4 main forms:
Men’s Field, Women’s Field, Box/Indoor, Sixes
(Olympic)

8. Cedar Park High School Programs
Is not a UIL sport, meaning the program is considered a school club
Cedar Park Men’s Lacrosse:
● Season runs January to April, playoffs extend into May
● Practices are 4:30-6:30 PM Mon-Thurs, 2:00-4:00 PM Sat. at CPHS
● Games are played Tues/Thurs/Sat evenings
● Head Coach- Tyler Moore, Club President- Mike McKeon
9. Cedar Park High School Programs
Is not a UIL sport, meaning the program is considered a school club
Cedar Park Women’s Lacrosse:
● Season runs January to April, playoffs and state championships extend into May
● Practices are Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays
○ Jan - Feb 6:30-8:30 pm @ Brushy Creek Sports
○ Mar-Apr 5:30-7:30 pm @ Vista Ridge HS
● Games are played Tues/Thurs/Friday evenings
● Head Coach- Erin Kramer, Club President- Tom Hofmeister
10. CPL Cannons Lacrosse
Boys and Girls Lacrosse Grades K-8th
*Serves all of Leander ISD (except Vandegrift), Liberty Hill, Lago Vista, Jonestown
● Season runs January to May, Games begin last week of February
● Practices will start at Brushy Creek Sports Park until daylight savings
○ 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM Mon & Wed, 10:00 - 11:30 AM for Bantam (K-2nd) & Lightning (3rd-4th)
○ 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Mon & Wed, 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM Juniors (5th-6th) & Seniors (7th & 8th)
● Games are played Saturdays and Sundays
● Program Director- Tyler Moore, Club President- Chad Curnutt
*Cannons boys lacrosse feeds 3 high school programs: Cedar Park, Vista Ridge, and Rouse. Lago Vista students would join
Cedar Park. Liberty Hill, Glenn, and Leander HS plays for Rouse.

Cost should never be prohibitive to playing lacrosse
(payment plans, discounts, and scholarships available)
High School Boys: $1800
High School Girls: TBD +$96 Uniform, $100 Jacket-optional

Answer: Jim Brown
Played both football and lacrosse for Syracuse University and is one of the biggest ambassadors for the
sport today. The PLL trophy is named in his honor
Bonus: Jim Thorpe was the first Native American to win a medal in the olympics for the US, but he only
played lacrosse in high school.

Answer: 12-13%
This is the highest of any men’s sport and 2nd highest of any women’s sport. Compared to baseball
(7.5%), football (7.3%), women’s soccer (7.2%), and volleyball (3.9%), lacrosse is almost double or
more than double the likelihood of playing in college for men and women.
