SAB has embraced the Road Transport Management System (RTMS) to improve road safety and regulate its transport operations. RTMS brings external credibility to SAB's internal safety controls and provides oversight of third-party transport partners. It standardizes operations across contractors and sites to ensure proactive road safety management. While SAB already has internal systems, RTMS certification is now required for all third-party transport contractors and SAB sites. So far, 7 of 10 third-party fleets are RTMS certified, with the remaining 3 to be certified by July 2016. All 39 SAB fleets will be certified by the end of 2016. Lessons learned are to fully understand RTMS requirements and benefits, ensure senior management ownership
