This document discusses using FFMP (Flash Flood Monitoring and Prediction) basins in AWIPS and Google Earth. It notes that while the FFMP program has worked well, the basins in AWIPS have some limitations like lacking topographical reference. The document suggests modifying the basins using county DEM data to better understand areas with rugged terrain, limited observations, and flood intensity issues. It provides examples of how modified basins could represent low water crossings, burn scars, high risk dams, and problem creeks/arroyos. The remainder demonstrates using ArcGIS to modify FFMP basins and export them to Google Earth to analyze past flood events.
