iPad For Beginners - How To Use The iPad
1. iPad Basics 1 – Getting Started With
The iPad
In this presentation we will give you an
introduction to the iPad and tell you about the
buttons on the device as well as how to move
around and navigate. The first thing we will look
at are the buttons. If you hold the iPad in a
vertical position you will see that in the top right
you have the sleep/wake button.
2. Quite simply you can press this to sleep or wake
the iPad depending on your needs. The fact that
you can turn the screen off will also conserve the
battery.
If you hold down this button you can actually turn
the iPad off. Hold it down for about 4 seconds
and a slider will pop up and then you just need to
slide the slider to the right to turn the iPad off.
3. On the right hand side at the top you will find a
switch that has 2 positions. This switch can be
used to mute all sound on your iPad.
You also have the volume controls on the right at
the top. If you tap the top lever you will turn the
volume up and the bottom one will turn it down. If
you hold the bottom volume lever down it will
mute the iPad.
4. The other button and probably the one you will
be using most on the iPad is the Home button.
This is at the bottom in the center. You simply
need to push this to get back to the starting
screen. So if you are in an app you can push the
home button to get back to the home screen.
You can also press it twice quickly to open up
the quick menu. This menu will allow you to
select an app that you have used recently.
5. To navigate between the pages on your iPad
you simply swipe the screen with your finger
from left to right or vice versa depending on what
direction you want to go. If you are on the main
starting screen and you swipe from left to right
you will get to the search feature.
This is handy if you want to look anything up or if
you can’t find the app.
6. You simple start typing and it will search everything on your app.
The list will update as you type and you can just select what you
want once it is displayed.
These are the basics of the iPad. Once you understand how to
navigate, how to tap on apps to launch them and how to use the
Home key to close an app you can do most things with the iPad.
