Exception No. 2 In existing slow evacuation capability facilities, an automatic sprinkler system in accordance with NFPA 13D with a 30-minute water supply, shall be permitted. All habitable areas and closets shall be sprinklered. Bath-rooms <55 sf are exempt. §32.2.3.5.2. NFPA 13D Sprinkler Systems Installation of Sprinkler Systems in One- and Two-Family Dwellings and Manufactured Homes Only ten minute water supply required No sprinklers required in: • Bathrooms <55 sf, • Closets <24 sf with dimension <3 ft • Garages, porches, carports • Attics, crawl spaces • Entry foyers if not only means of egress Sprinkler Maintenance When installed or required, sprinkler systems must be inspected, tested, and maintained in accordance with NFPA 25.
  11. 11. 4/22/2014 11 Sprinkler Maintenance The facility must have a written contract with a fire protection sprinkler firm that has been issued a Sprinkler Certificate of Registration number (SCR) from the Texas State Fire Marshal's Office to perform the required services semiannually. Sprinkler Maintenance The facility must have documentation available to show that all the requirements of NFPA 25 have been met including the annual inspection, test, and maintenance by the registered fire sprinkler firm. Sprinkler Maintenance The facility must retain one set of the fire sprinkler system plans and hydraulic calculations on the property in accordance with NFPA 25.
