To celebrate the 2nd National Forklift Safety Day, Chuck Cullinan hosted a webinar discussing Blue L.E.D. Safety Spot Lights. With Pedestrian Safety becoming more and more of a concern in the workplace, the Blue LED Safety Spot Lights serve as an early warning systems for pedestrians working closely around forklifts.
With employees constantly multi-tasking maintain their high level of productivity and efficiency, employees are becoming more distracted of their surroundings. During the webinar, Chuck discusses:
• Benefits of using an early warning alert for pedestrians
• How it will minimize pedestrian-related incidents
• Features of the product
• Why you need a safety spot light in your facility

- Training and proper procedure can minimize likelihood to
pedestrian-related accidents
6. Pedestrian Safety
It’s More Than Common Sense
• Good judgment is not the whole
solution
• Conditions that can cause accidents:
– Complacency
– Distractions to both pedestrians and
operators
– Equipment failures
• Can be damaging to company
reputation
7. A Pedestrian Point-of-View
The following are actions pedestrians do
while walking the facility that may distract
them from dangers:
• Texting
• Talking on the phone
• Conversing with a fellow pedestrian
• Writing
• Distraction of something other than
nearby equipment
• Radio in the ear
8. Minimizing Pedestrian Distractions
• Pedestrians need to be trained, too
– Not just the operators
• Pedestrians have the right away
– But pedestrians need to know
forklifts are not cars
• Training is the most effective method
to minimize pedestrian-related
casualties
9. The Blue L.E.D. Safety Spot Light
Outside of training, facility procedures, well maintained
equipment, and a well designed facility, the Blue L.E.D.
Safety Spot Light is one of the best early warning systems
you can use on forklifts for pedestrians walking facilities.
10. The Blue L.E.D. Safety Spot Light
• As the forklift travels, a bright blue light glides across the floor about
15 feet ahead of or behind letting pedestrians know that a forklift is
approaching
• Can be mounted in front of or behind the forklift (or both)
• When workers are alerted by the bright light moving across the floor,
they know a vehicle is on the way
• Since the light moves only when the vehicle does, pedestrians can
understand when the vehicle is stationary or on the move.
11. The Value of Blue Lights
• Warning sign in noisy environments
• Use in blind intersections
• Distracted pedestrians
