  • 2. Why are trade shows important? • Meet hundreds of potential customers, partners, and vendors • Exposure • Promote new products or services • Check out the competition • Build long-term relationships
  • 3. Start With Small Talk • Don’t expect attendees to approach you! • Break the ice with “small talk” – How’s your day going? How’s the weather? • Little questions like this will help get the trade show attendees to open up to you • NEVER begin with your sales pitch!!
  • 4. Always Ask Open-Ended Questions • Don’t give the attendees the opportunity to say “no”. • Learn to really LISTEN to your potential customers to find out what their needs are • Listening will lead to long-term relationships
  • 5. Follow up, Follow up, Follow up! • You are competing for their business against other competitors that were at the same trade show. They will remember those businesses who contact them after the event. • Send thank-you cards or give them a call. I would refrain from sending an email because it may come across as spam.
