The Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics (SITE) and the Embassy of the Republic of
Poland have the pleasure to invite you to a lecture on ‘Social Policy in Poland 1990-2016.
Trends, Phases, Outcomes’ on Wednesday April 13, 12.45 – 14.30, with Dr. Marek Rymsza
and comments by Dr. Michał Myck.
Dr. Rymsza is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Applied Social Sciences at the
University of Warsaw and a member of the National Development Council, an advisory body
for the President of the Republic of Poland, in the field of social and family policy.
Furthermore Mr. Rymsza is a well-known journalist, co-founder and editor in-chief of the
quarterly ‘Third Sector’, which deals with the issues of civil society and NGOs.
Dr. Myck is the Director of the Center for Economic Analysis (CenEA) in Szczecin, which is
part of the Forum for Research on Eastern Europe and Emerging Economies (FREE) network
that SITE is coordinating in the region. He has worked extensively on social policies in
Poland.
The lecture will be introduced by Wiesław Tarka, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland,
and chaired by Torbjörn Becker, Director of SITE. Time will be available for questions and
answers.
