A visual guide for entering your WCB
informationintothe spreadsheet.
By now, many have seen the spreadsheet I
completed in April 2015 that accurately
shows Alberta WCB premium impacts - from
changes in claims, payroll, and other factors.
Data entry is on one worksheet, and there are
seven other tabs that support and rely on it -
everything from key results, to showing every
step of the Experience Rating calculations.
For casual users, this article will help you get
started quickly, and get the results you need. Bluedata entry boxes from the “Instructions and Data Entry” tab
WCB data is entered in the blue boxes found in the “Instructions and
Data Entry” tab (all tabs are found at the bottom of the spreadsheet).
What you will need:
The calculator software, and a computer that can run Microsoft Excel

ContacttheAlberta WCB at(780) 498-3999 if you do not haveyourRateStatementsorInsurableEarnings.
Getting Started:
In the calculator, click on the “Instructions and Data Entry” tab, and enter your WCB data in the blue
fields. See pages 2 and 3 for examples of an Employer Premium Rate Statement and the Instructions
and Data Entry Page – both numbered to show exactly where to find data, and where it goes!
Getting your results:
Once you have entered information in all of the blue boxes, click on the “Calculator” tab. If the
calculated “EmployerRate” does not match the “EmployerPremiumRate” on your Premium Rate
Statement, double check all of the numbers entered in the blue boxes. Once you’ve confirmed
the correct results, save the file, and print this page before modifying any data you entered.
2. Wondering where to find the data, and where to enter it in the calculator? See the below
example of an Employer Premium Rate Statement, and the calculator example on the next page.
Match up the below with the same numbers on the next page.
Take the 10 data points from your Rate Statement, plus the 11th from your Annual Return, and
enter them in the calculator, as shown in the example on the next page.
Once all blue boxes have been completed, save your results, and print the “Calculator” page.

Stay tuned for future WCB articles. See my May 2015 article for appropriate claim cost changes.
