Poetry and nature at the door of Paris: The Forest of Fontainebleau Alain Leclerc If you had ever come for some hours in this forest, you will never forget the magic moments you passed here. It is the place where lost of inhabitants of Paris area are coming to enjoy some moments of fusion with nature and peaceful feelings coming from this special mineral and vegetable place. The forest of Fontainebleau is located at 55 to 80 kilometers from Paris, at the south east of the capital city, along the famous national road, going to the south east part of France. You can take your car on Saturday morning or Sunday morning and be there in our hour or more, according to how many people had the same idea than you (and sometimes they are plenty). Suddenly after the motorway, the long line of the road between fields of market-gardening, the hills of Fontainebleau, full of green trees, will surround your car. Open the window, you will breathe the perfume of the nature: flowers, grass, earth and listen to the song of the birds welcome you in their shelter forest. From north to South, the forest is one of the largest one of France, 25 kms to 35 kms in each side and very few cities and villages are located inside of it. It is not only a place consider as the shelter for birds and wild animals but also the shelter for anyone who like to go outside of the tremble of the modern society and the smokes of the old factories. It was, 35 millions of years ago, the place of a very hot sea and the whole forest is full of sand, as a remembering of this seaside history. One of the famous sights of the forest is coming from the heavy stones. Those rocks made of sandstone are drawing the landscape of the forest and bring you in a special world where mineral is the heart and birds the music performers. ENGLISH CLICK

Bosque de Fontainebleau Con una superficie de 28000 ha, éste magnifico bosque protegido ofrece más de 1600 km de caminos forestales y circuítos pedestres para placer de paseantes, con 300 km de senderos señalizados. Jinetes, ciclistas, patinadores o corredores encontrarán igualmente circuítos para perderse. Para los aficionados a la escalada hay cerca de 150 rutas señalizadas para su asueto entre los roquedales de arenisca y piedras del macizo. El bosque de Fontainebleau sigue siendo fuente de placer para los amantes de la naturaleza, tanto por su gran cantidad y variedad de fauna: ciervos, corzos, jabalies, roedores y cerca de 250 especies de aves, cómo por la riqueza de su flora: alrededor de 1350 plantas con flores, 450 musgos, 3000 hongos, 500 líquenes y una cantidad similar de algas. El bosque es patrimonio real desde el siglo XI y sus primeras instalaciones fueron hechas para la explotación forestal y uso cinegético, siendo obra de François I y de Louis XVI. Los senderos tienen su origen en el siglo XIX y son obra de Claude François Denecourt (1788- 1875) que trazó los primeros y de Charles Colinet (1839- 1905) que continuó hasta realizar lo esencial de la red actual, marcado en rojo. Entre los sitios más célebres y visitados, no debe perderse Les Gorges (Gargantas) de Franchard, los roquedales (chaos) y el desierto de Apremont, las alturas de la Solle o la Croix du Calvaire (Cruz del Calvario), que ofrecen suntuosas e impresionantes vistas del macizo. Más lúdico, algunos lugares tienen rocas con extrañas apariencias animales, donde creeremos poder ver un diplodocus y una tortuga en el massif de Trois Pignon (Macizo de los Tres Piñones), una tortuga y un elefante en les Gorges (gargantas) d’Apremont y otro elefante en Larchant.
