2. Front Cover-Title
The most important page to attract the audience is the front cover, when you
look at it, the readers should be able to see what the magazine is about and
whether they could take an interest in it. In order to do this I had to make sure
the look of it caught my target audience's attention and would attract them to
it. I think the title 'Six Strings' in itself is good as it is edgy and smart as it
relates to music in a less obvious way. It is short, catchy and easy to
remember, and this is what I think appeals to my target audience as it is
modern which is associate with the young but mature audience. When I
asked my audience about it they said:
''Its a really smart and fresh title and you can instantly tell that the magazine is
going to be about an edgy genre''
''Its easy to remember which I really like because it doesn't seem to over
thought''
3. Front Cover-Image
To really appeal to my target audience who are late teens
and early adults (young) I decided to use models that
were around the same age as them, The models range
from 16 to 18, this way the readers/audience can relate
to the image and this therefore attracts them to the
magazine. It also shows that this is a magazine aimed
for them and contains modern and up to date
information. When I asked my target audience what
they thought they said:
'' Because the people are young I can tell that this is a
young magazine which is mostly for young people
mostly.''
The fact that the band is young and around my age, I find
it more interesting and much better to read''
4. Front Cover-Subtitles
I used subtitles that where about present events in the music industry as I noticed
in some rock magazines they included information on artists from the past,
but those magazines where probably aimed at an older audience that would
take an interest in that remember those artists, so because my magazine is
aimed at a young modern audience I made sure that my subtitles were
modern and the main trend in youth today is that they like to keep up with
NEW news, artists, songs and fashion. That is why when making my main
story sell-line I said ''NEW voice of rock'' this will instantly grab the
audience attention as they will see that this band is popular and the latest
craze. The other sell-lines were about present events in the music world such
as Brit awards, the charts and festivals, each other these factors are
specifically attracted to by the young audience.
5. Front Cover-Badge
As seen on many magazine I included a badge which
advertises 'Cold-play' and a chance to win tickets to one
of there concerts. I choose cold play because they seem
to be very popular amongst my target audience, and so I
wanted to give them what they want.
6. Contents
The piece of text that says ''Top Tips. How to
become your idols'' is perfect for my target
audience as most of them are looking for
ways to become famous and like their
favourite stars and so this should attract them
to buy the magazine. When I showed my
target audience they said:
''I really like this aspect of the MAG, because it
would be really helpful to people y gage as a
lot are completely invested in music and
becoming successful.''
7. Double Page Spread
My Q&A article really focuses on the lies
of these people which I think can help
teens relate to them, as it shows how
they started out as school kids but had a
passion for music and so did something
about it. The fact that they were in
school can really help teens relate to
them as most of them will be there
position, it encourages them to go after
there dreams, and I think that this is
what my target audience want to read in
order to boost there confidence and self
esteem
8. Double Page Spread-Image
The models in the picture look very casual
and cool, and this Is what most of my
target audience aspire to be like. You
can see this through the poses and the
clothes they are wearing. They are
wearing casual yet fashionable clothing
that a lot of people wear and the poses
they are doing look effortless. It can
give the message to readers to be more
laid back. My target audience said:
''I love the picture, what I especially love it
that they look normal and like any other
usual teen and not fake, to me it's
promoting a good message''
9. Conclusion
On the whole I believe that all the aspects of my magazine
when put together can appeal and attract my target
audience mainly because it is modern and young and so
they are able to relate to the magazine itself.
