Shrek is an ogre who is ugly and frightening to others. He is kicked out of his home by his parents who find him even uglier than themselves. As Shrek travels the world looking for adventure, he meets various fantastical creatures. He eventually enters a princess's castle, finding her to be the only one more hideous than himself, and they fall in love and marry despite their appearances.

carrying a cactus for a bouquet!
