Scientists have discovered bizarre new lifeforms living near underwater volcanic vents at the bottom of the ocean. These organisms have adapted to survive in extreme conditions with no sunlight by using chemicals from the vents for energy instead of photosynthesis. Some of the organisms have no eyes or other sensory organs, living in perpetual darkness, and their discovery is expanding our understanding of how life can exist in seemingly inhospitable environments.
