  2. 2.  Ascots have been part of mens fashion for many years. They are neckbands made mostly of patterned silk. They are usually worn during special occasions such as weddings, formal parties or even as an everyday look.
  3. 3.  An ascot has a different design from a tie but serves the same purpose. It is wider than the usual tie and therefore has a different way of tying. With the ascot tie one has to fold over and fasten it with a tie tacker or a stickpin.
  4. 4.  It originated in the 19th century, when Beau Brummel was sported wearing it as part of his every day look. It was later adopted by royalty and upper classes who wore it as an everyday look. It was made of cotton fabric or heavy linen. It was tied around the neck and held in place by a golden or silver pin. As years went by, middle classes began sporting the look but theirs was less formal and lighter as it was made of silk.
  5. 5.  The ascot has various tying methods but there are two popular ones. One of the popular styles is the dress cravat. In this style, the ascot knot is used for the dress cravat and some ends are left under, over and in front of the chest and are held by a pin.
  6. 6.  The other method is the day cravat which usually has two options of tying. The first one is the simple knot with the ascot inside the shirt. This is a more traditional way of tying. The other option is the simple knot with the ascot outside the shirt. This is a less traditional way of tying.
  7. 7.  Ascots come in various colors and patterns. There is the silk printed ascot which looks snazzy and smart when it is worn with colorful clothes. This is a very unique style and the women usually love it. When it comes to colors black and blue ascots are more conservative as they can match with a wide range of outfits. There are many other colors to match with outfits of different colors.
  8. 8.  Nowadays ascots have become common attire in weddings and other special occasions. They are worthy considering when choosing a tie as they are very classy, easy to tie and one gets to look sophisticated without a doubt. They are surely an excellent alternative to regular ties. They are readily available online and offline at a reasonable price.
