Beating the heat
It’s nearing the end of a long, hot
summer.
But we’re not there yet.
With a good two months more of
heat to endure, it may seem
impossible to get cool and stay
cool for long.

Certain yoga movements can help your body
to cool down.
Twists and bends can stimulate blood flow
and increase the amount of oxygen you’re
breathing.
Resting movements can slow your body and
allow it to rejuvenate.

Twist
Side twists
Anything with a twist is like a massage for
your insides.
• Clasp your hands together on one leg
• Rest on one hand to stretch even further
6. Forward fold
Bend at the waist and
stretch your arms gently as
far as you can along your
legs.

Downward facing

Press your hands against the
ground and feel the stretch in
your back and hamstrings, as
your body gets cooled down.

Legs Up the Wall
This cooling and restorative pose is also quite
good for your lower back. Try it out when you
need a break.

Easy pose
Sit cross-legged on the ground (criss-cross
applesauce!) hands on your knees, palms
up.

Variations:
• Rest your hands on your stomach or heart
and pay attention to your breathing.
• Put your back against the wall and focus
on your core.

Tabletop
While on your hands and knees,
breath deeply and shake your
head yes and no.
This move is used to cool after a
flow, and be a good time to
regain your breath.
