Giant’s Causeway

The Giant’s Causeway is an area of about
40,000 interlocking basalt columns, the
result of an ancient volcanic eruption.
It’s located in County Antrim on the
northeast coasts of Northern Ireland.
Legend
Legend tells of an Irish warrior Fionn mac
Camhail, who built a causeway to Scotland.
History
Some 50 to 60 million years to go, during the
Paleogene period, Antrim was subject to
intense volcanic activity.
The Giant’s Causeway is today owned and
managed by the National Trust and it is
the most popular tourist attraction in
Norhern Ireland.
