You may have had your child come home and tell you all about the exciting game they played in school today rather than tell you about the fact that they learned about the alphabet. Why did they say this? Because they had no idea they were actually LEARNING something! To them, they were playing a game, and this is exactly what I want. Learning should be fun!
These aren’t the games that you and I once played on the Nintendo. Your children are actually gaining an education from the games that are now offered through various websites.
One of the websites that we use with our kindergarteners to work on their language skills is Starfall.
Here the students are given a step by step process that will eventually get your children up to the skill of reading!
When your child has mastered the alphabet it is then time to move on to the basic skills of reading. Some of your children may achieve some of their reading this year and others may not. That is entirely based on each individual. What is great about this website is that there is no time frame. If your child takes a little longer working on the alphabet then that is fine. They will catch on in their own time!
As we begin to use technology to educate your child, we encourage you to do the same at home.
You can ensure that your child is getting the best advantage by working with them at home! I will send information home that will keep you informed on which level your child currently needs to be working on in this website.
You can access this website at home and help them boost their skills! It is a great way for you as the parent to get involved in your child’s education!
