4. Dr Anthony Alessandre reports that
75% of people don’t consider
themselves
effective listeners
5. 65% of people with depression don’t
access any treatment
6. Event - How
Around 10 volunteers will be scattered around
Degraves street in Melbourne's CBD with signs
saying “I will Listen to you”.
People will then go up and talk to those
individual with the signs. We will have one
person stage interest, talking and then move on.
The success of the event will be measured on
how many people talk to the ‘listeners’
7. Event - Who
• This event will be held in partnership with
Beyond Blue, and be promoting their
organization as well as the biggest strategy in
dealing with mental health issues, talking and
listening
• We do not have a targeted group in the
participation of this event as these issues effect
people from every demographic. However we do
predict that it is more likely those who range form
the ages of 18 – 25 will be more prone to
participate.
8. Event - Where
• We have strategically chosen Degraves street
due to the amount of people regularly their
and the artistic tendencies of this area.
9. Beyond Blue
Beyondblue began in 2000 as a five-year initiative
by the federal government after a period of public
debate on the treatment of depression sufferers.
Beyondblue is working to reduce the impact of
depression and anxiety in the community by
raising awareness and understanding, empowering
people to seek help, and supporting
recovery, management and resilience.
11. Facebook
• To organise this event our group will use
Facebook to create a group to communicate
with one another.
• Facebook will also be used to promote the
event and to gain volunteers to be the
‘listeners’
12. Storify
• We will be using Storify to document the
planning and the execution of the event. We
will be taking photos of the event (with the
individuals promotion) not filming the
conversations. We will also be taking statistics
of the event which will help dictate the
success of the events.
