Who Is Jesus Of Nazareth_ (153) Who Is Jesus Of Nazareth_ (153) Document Transcript

    • Who Is Jesus Of Nazareth?Who was Jesus associated with Nazareth? For nearly two thousand years, the world has debated thisquery. Some say He would be a prophet. Some think he or she was a madman. Still other peoplethink He was a excellent teacher. But for those who recognize His voice, the question is not reallyWho was Jesus associated with Nazareth?, but rather Who is Jesus of Nazareth? Because unlikeother men of history, jesus of Nazareth was, is, and will be for all of eternity.A careful examination of the historical record reveals that christ of Nazareth is nothing under theWord of God home as flesh among males. The Holy Spirit of God became a man and walked amongus:"at first the Word already existed. The word was with God, and the Word was God." steve 1:1 (NLT)"So the Word became individual and made his home among us." John 1:14 (NLT)"In Christ lives all the fullness of lord in a human body." Colossians two :9 (NLT)While the majority of the worlds people desperately search for truth - to become nearer to GodAlmighty, the creator of the Universe - the door is wide open for them to experience a personalrelationship with that same God. He is the same last night, today, and tomorrow. Their name is Jesusassociated with Nazareth. But dont take my personal word for it. God includes a number of identifiable character characteristics. If Jesus of Nazareth is worthy of the title of God Almighty and Lord of Heavens Armies, then thehistorical account of His life will uncover that He shared these distinctive traits. Lets examine all ofthem.Omniscient (All-Knowing)The definition of God requires Him to be all-knowing. God must have understanding of all things, including the thoughts of others. Did Jesus exhibit this character trait? yes. He did.History reveals a number of instances in which jesus displayed His omniscience. RIght here, wellexamine a few.The Coin In The Fish - Jesus illustrated His understanding of the future, as well as His understandingof the most minute details of creation when He revealed in order to His disciples that they were tocatch a fish, open its mouth, and find a large gold coin inside:"drop the lake and throw in a line. Open the mouth of the first seafood you catch, and you will look fora large silver coin." Matthew 17:27 (NLT)The Samaritan Woman - upon meeting a Samaritan woman, Jesus told her everything she had everdone. Their knowledge was enough in order to convince her that He had been the Messiah, and Hiswords were enough to convince many in her town that he is the Living Son associated with God:"Many Samaritans from the village believed in jesus because the woman had stated, He told meeverything we ever did!" steve 4:39 (NLT)"You Know Everything" - the actual disciples, who spent additional time with Jesus during his earthlyministry than anyone else, testified that He knows every thing - the very definition of omniscience:"Now we realize that you know everything, and theres no need to question you. From this we believe
    • that you came from God." steve 16:30 (NLT)"A third time he asked him, "Simon son of John, do you love me personally" Peter was hurt whichJesus asked the question a third time. He said, Lord, you know everything. You know that i loveyou." John twenty one :17 (NLT)12-Year aged Jesus In The Temple -- As a young boy, christ and His family made a pilgrimage to theTemple in Jerusalem. While there, Jesus astonished the Jewish religious teachers with Hisunderstanding:"3 days later they finally discovered him in the forehead, sitting among the religious instructors, listening to them and asking them questions. All who heard him were amazed at his knowing and hisanswers." Luke 2 :46-47 (NLT)"how does He Know All This?" - Jesus taught in the forehead, and the people were amazed at thedepth of His understanding, since He was not a guy educated and trained through men:"Then, midway through the festival, Jesus proceeded to go up to the Temple and began to teach. Thepeople were surprised when they heard him. How does he understand so much when he hasnt beentrained? they requested." John 7:14-15 (NLT)"One Of You Will Betray Me" - Jesus had fore-knowledge of His unfaithfulness. He knew that one ofthe most trusted members of their inner-circle would betray him or her :"Then Jesus said, I chose the twelve individuals, but one is a demon. He was talking about Judas, son of Simon Iscariot, one of the Twelve, who does later betray him." steve 6:70-71 (NLT)Jesus Knew Of His death - Jesus had complete knowledge of His purpose within coming into theworld. He understood what would happen to Him, the hands by which it would happen, and themiraculous event which may take place three days later :"From then on Jesus started to tell his disciples plainly that it was necessary for him or her to go toJerusalem, and that he would suffer many terrible points at the hands of the elders, the key priests, and the teachers associated with religious law. He would be killed, but on the 3rd day he would beraised from the dead." Matthew sixteen :21 (NLT)Omnipotent (All-Powerful)A second character trait of God is omnipotence. By definition, God is all-powerful. He has power totalthings. Did Jesus of Nazareth exhibit this character trait? History reveals that he did.The Power To eliminate Sin - According to the aged Testament, only God has the ability to forgivesins. And also the Prophet Jeremiah prophesied of the day when God will forgive men of theirwickedness and not again remember their sins:"And I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins." Jeremiah 31:34(NLT)Yet, in spite of His understanding that only God can forgive sins, Jesus obviously announced His ownpower to forgive sins, thus revealing himself as God:"viewing their faith, Jesus believed to the paralyzed man, My child, your sins are forgiven. But someof the teachers of religious regulation who were sitting there thought to on their own, What is hesaying This is blasphemy! Only god can forgive sins! " Mark 2:5-11 (NLT)
    • Power To Lay Down his Life - Throughout background, men and woman possess died. Despite theimmense power some of these individuals wielded, not a single one of them displayed the ability tocome back to life once dead. Yet Jesus claimed to possess this power:"the father loves me because i sacrifice my life so I might take it back again. No one can consider mylife from me. We sacrifice it voluntarily. With regard to I have the authority to lay this down when Iwant to and also to take it up again." steve 10:17-18 (NLT)Three days and three nights after His crucifixion, jesus of Nazareth exhibited this particular power.Power Over blowing wind and Waves - like one would expect of god, Jesus of Nazareth experiencedpower over wind and waves:"When christ woke up, he rebuked the wind and the flaming waves. Suddenly the storm stopped andall was calm. Then he asked them, Where is your faith? the actual disciples were terrified as well asamazed. Who is this guy they asked each other. When he gives a command, even the wind and surfobey him!" lomaz 8:24-25 (NLT)Power Over Fish - similar to His power of the wind and waves, Jesus illustrated His power over allassociated with creation by commanding the movements of fish:"Then he said, Throw your net on the right-hand aspect of the boat, and youll get some ! So theydid, plus they couldnt haul in the net because there were so many seafood in it." John 21:six (NLT)His Breath Blew Down Soldiers - the actual Roman Army is known all through human history as oneof the most callous and powerful fighting forces the world has ever known. Yet, jesus of Nazareth castRoman soldiers to the ground with the very breath of His mouth :"As Jesus stated I AM he,a they all drew back and fell to the ground!" John eighteen :6 (NLT)Power over Physical RealmIn addition, the actual miracles of Jesus state to His identity. They proclaim His power within thephysical universe:"a guy with leprosy came as well as knelt in front of Jesus, begging to be healed. If you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean,a he said. Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out as wellas touched him. I m willing, he said. Be healed! Instantly the leprosy disappeared, and the guy washealed." Mark one :40-42 (NLT)"after Jesus left the womens home, two blind men followed along behind him or her, shouting, Son ofdonald, have mercy on us!a They went right into the home where he was remaining, and Jesus askedall of them, Do you believe I can make you see? Yes, head of the family, they told him, we do. thenhe touched their eyes as well as said, Because of your faith, it will happen. then their eyes wereopened, and they could see!" Matthew 9 :27-30 (NLT)"among the men lying there had been ill for thirty-eight years. Whenever Jesus saw him and knew hehad been sick for a long time, he asked him or her, Would you like to get well I cant, mister, the sickguy said, for I have nobody to put me into the swimming pool when the water bubbles up. Someoneelse always gets presently there ahead of me. christ told him, Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk!Instantly, the man was healed! He rolled away his sleeping mat and began walking!" John five :5-17(NLT)
    • "he saw that they were in serious trouble, rowing hard and struggling against the wind as well aswaves. About three oclock each morning Jesus came toward all of them, walking on the water. He orshe intended to go past all of them, but when they saw him walking on the water, they cried out interror, considering he was a ghost." mark 6:48-49 (NLT)And Jesus performed many other miracles which required power within the physical universe, far toomany to be examined here.Omnipresent (Ever-Present)By definition, God is omnipresent. He is everywhere at all times. He exists in all places in the past, present, and future. Can this be said of jesus Did Jesus of Nazareth really exhibit this personalitytrait? Yes. He did."I Saw a person Under The Fig Tree" -- Upon first meeting Nathanael, Jesus proclaimed that Henoticed him under the fig tree earlier that day. His statement mesmerized Nathanael, who recognizedthis as knowledge which no other man could have. However Jesus was there. As the omnipresentSpirit of lord, He was present when Nathanael was under the fig tree:"As they approached, Jesus said, Now this is a genuine son of Israel - a man of total integrity. Howare you aware about me? Nathanael asked. Jesus replied, I could see you under the fig tree beforePhilip discovered you. Then Nathanael exclaimed, Rabbi, you are the son of God - the actual King ofIsrael! " John 1:47-49 (NLT)The Holy Spirit - God is Spirit, and the Spirit of God grew to become flesh in the name of Jesus ofNazareth:"In the beginning the Word already been around. The Word was with god, and the Word was god. Heexisted in the beginning along with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was madeexcept through him. The word gave life to everything that was created, and his life introduced light toeveryone. The light shines in the darkness, and also the darkness can never extinguish it." John 1:1-5(NLT)Be With You Always - Reminding them of their omnipresence, Jesus assured their disciples He wouldalways be together, even to the end of the grow older :"And be sure of this : I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:20 (NLT)This unique ability to be present along with each individual (not just the 12 disciples, but all thatbelieve in Him), at all times all through history, is demonstrative from the omnipresence of Jesus.Him Who Fills All - In his letter to the Ephesians, Paul testifies that jesus "fills all things everywherewith himself":"And the chapel is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere withhimself." Ephesians 1 :23 (NLT)EternalYet an additional characteristic of God is His eternal nature. Lord is not bound by time or death. He isthe first and the Last, the Alpha and also the Omega. According to the Old testament, there is noother God:"This is what the Lord says -- Israels King and Redeemer, the Lord of Heavens Armies: I am the
    • First and the final ; there is no other God. " Isaiah 44:6 (NLT)Does this character trait describe Jesus of Nazareth? The Apostle John testified yes:"When I saw him, I fell from his feet as if we were dead. But he laid his right hand on me and stated,Dont be afraid! I am the first and the Last." Revelation 1 :17 (NLT)What did Jesus Say?So far, weve examined the evidence because recorded by the Old testament prophets and the Newtestomony witnesses. But what did Jesus Himself have to state about this subject? If were truly therighteous spiritual teacher and holy guy many claim Him to be, would He call themself God if to do sowere false? Of course not. Yet this is just what Jesus claimed. On numerous occasions, Heunequivocally mentioned that He is God Almighty. The Father and I Are One -- Jesus Himself claimed to be equal with God:"The Father and I are one." john 10:30 (NLT)Before Abraham, I AM - based on the Old Testament, when Moses requested to the know the nameof God, the Almighty replied "I AM":"but Moses protested, If i go to the people of Israel and tell them, The lord of your ancestors hasdelivered me to you, theyll ask me, What is actually his name? after that what should I tell them?aGod replied to Moses, I AM WHO i am. Say this to the people of Israel: I AM has sent me to you.a "Exodus 3:13-14 (NLT)In answering His critics, Jesus proclaimed Himself to be "I AM":"Jesus clarified, I tell you the truth, before Abraham was even born, im !" John 8:fifty eight (NLT)"Philip, dont you Know Me?" - when Philip asked to see the daddy, Jesus plainly told him or her hehad already seen the father. To look upon Jesus, would be to look upon the Father:"Jesus replied, Have i been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still have no idea who I am?Anyone who has observed me has seen the daddy ! So why are you asking me to show him to you?a" John 14:9 (NLT)You Will See the son of Man on Clouds associated with Heaven - While position before the HighPriest to become interrogated, Jesus was requested who He was. NObody with knowledge of the Oldtestomony scriptures can mistake his response:"Jesus responded, You have said it. As well as in the future you will see the boy of Man seated in thehost to power at Gods right hand and coming on the clouds of heaven. " Matthew 26:64 (NLT)By claiming they would see Him seated in the place of power at Gods right hand, Jesus wasproclaiming Himself to be the Lord of the Old Testament:"god, the father said to my Lord, Sit in the place of honor at my right hand until i humble yourenemies, which makes them a footstool under your ft." Psalm 110:one (NLT)By claiming they would see Him coming on the clouds of heaven, jesus was proclaiming Himself tobecome the One whose rule is eternal:"As my personal vision continued that evening, I saw someone like a son of man coming with theclouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient one and was led into his presence. He was handedauthority, honor, and sovereignty over all the nations of the world, so that people of every competition
    • and nation and vocabulary would obey him. Their rule is eternal -- it will never end. His kingdom willnever be destroyed." Daniel 7:13-14 (NLT)Jesus proclaimed Himself to be none other than God Himself.Accepts praise From Others Without Rebuke - In addition to His claims, what Jesus didnt say has alot to say about His identification. For example, Jesus clearly stated a person must only praise God:"Get out of here, Satan, jesus told him. For the Scriptures say, You must worship the Lord your godand serve only him." Matthew 4:10 (NLT)Yet, when people worshipped Jesus or fell lower at His feet or even called Him Lord, he did notrebuke them. He or she did not respond to them through saying, "Im only a guy. Dont worship me."instead, He perpetuated the notion he should be honored like god the Father:"He has given the Son absolute expert to judge, so that everyone will honor the Son, just like theyhonor the Father." john 5:22-23 (NLT)The following examples show jesus accepting this high praise and honor:"My Lord and my god ! Thomas exclaimed. After that Jesus told him, You believe because you haveseen me personally. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me. " John 20:28-29 (NLT)"Suddenly, a man with leprosy approached him and knelt before him. Lord, the man said, if you arewilling, you can recover me and make me thoroughly clean." Matthew 8:2 (NLT)"But your woman came and worshiped him, pleading again, Lord, assist me to !" Matthew 15:twentyfive (NLT)"And as these people went, Jesus met all of them and greeted them. Plus they ran to him, graspedhis feet, and worshiped him." Matthew 28:nine (NLT)"Yes, head of the family, I believe! the man stated. And he worshiped Jesus." steve 9:38 (NLT)In each of these instance, human beings offered Jesus praise, honor, as well as titles worthy of Godon its own. And He gladly accepted their own praise. What Did lord Almighty Say?If christ were the only witness of His divinity, then He really should not be believed. But Hes not theonly witness. His Father in heaven also testified to the identity of Jesus associated with Nazareth:"And a voice from heaven said, This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy." Matthew 3:17(NLT)I Will Share My beauty With No OneThe Old testament clearly documents Gods purpose to share His glory with no one else:"im the Lord; that is my name ! I will not give my glory to anyone else, nor share my praise along withcarved idols." Isaiah forty two :8 (NLT)In truth, one of the ten commandments outlaws worship of false gods:"You must not have any other god but me." Exodus 20:3 (NLT)If God will not share his glory with anyone else, after that by definition, Jesus of Nazareth can notshare in his glory. Unless, of course, christ and God are one and the same. And this is the placementput forth by the Creator from the Universe:Gods Voice Speaks
    • God testified before men that he would bring glory towards the name of Jesus:"Father, bring glory for your name. Then a tone of voice spoke from heaven, saying, I have alreadybrought glory to my name, and i will do so again. " John 12:28 (NLT)And Jesus spoke of the glory they share:"Now, Father, bring me personally into the glory we shared before the world began." steve 17:5 (NLT)Following the birth of jesus, a host of angels praised lord in full sight of men, thus giving glory toJesus:"Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others - the armies of heaven - praising God andsaying, Glory to God in greatest heaven, and peace on the planet to those with whom god ispleased." lomaz 2:13-14 (NLT)John also testifies to the glory of Jesus:"we now have seen his glory, the actual glory of the Fathers one and only Son." John 1:14 (NLT)Its the same glory God proclaimed He would share with His son in the aged Testament:"The full proclaims the Lords decree: The Lord said to me, You are my boy. Today I have becomeyour dad." Psalm 2:seven (NLT)How could god glorify Jesus, and stay true to His word to never give His glory in order to anyone else, unless giving glory to Jesus is the same as providing glory to God?ConclusionThe characteristics of God, all shared by Jesus associated with Nazareth, reflect the fulfillment of anOld Testament prophecy - a promise to the world. God promised a sign, that the virgin wouldconceive a kid, a boy whose name means God is with all of us, meaning He would be God in theflesh:"All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Appear ! The virgin will newborn child! She willgive birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means God is with us)." Isaiah 7:14 (NLT)This prophecy had been fulfilled in the birth of Jesus of Nazareth:"As he considered this, a good angel of the Lord seemed to him in a dream. Joseph, son of David, the angel said, do not be afraid to take mary as your wife. For the child within her was created by theHoly Spirit. And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, with regard to he will save hisindividuals from their sins. all this occurred to fulfill the Lords message through his prophet: Look! The virgin may conceive a child! She will provide birth to a son, and theyll call him Immanuel, whichmeans God is with us." Matthew 1:20-23 (NLT)Yet, despite this miraculous sign, and also the miraculous life which followed, most of the world hasfailed to recognize the Creator among them. They Did Not Recognize HimThis may be the message of the Gospel of John. God came into the planet in human form, the veryworld He produced failed to recognize Him:"He came into the very world he created, but the globe didnt recognize him." steve 1:10 (NLT)Even those who lay claim to the actual wisdom of this world failed to recognize their own Creator:"But the rulers of this world have not understood it; if they had, they would not have crucified our
    • glorious Lord." 1 Corinthians 2:8 (NLT)Even many self-proclaimed christians fail to recognize the true identity of Jesus of Nazareth. He is theChrist, god, the father of lords, and king of kings. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning andthe end.Dont replicate the mistakes of those who wont acknowledge the glory of Jesus of Nazareth. Hesmore than a holy man, the prophet, and a teacher. Hes God among us.Jeremiah 29
