2. About us
Myddleton Croft was established in 2006. Since then funds under management have tripled through
solid investment performance and a steady stream of new clients. With over 100 years’ industry
experience between us, our friendly team is always on hand to provide the best possible personal,
professional contact, looking after our clients’ investment portfolios, ISAs, pension funds and trusts.
How are we different?
We believe that good investment is for everyone, not just the very wealthy. As long as we can provide
a cost-effective service, we will gladly make our bespoke investment management service available to
the smaller portfolios that often fall under the radar in terms of size for other discretionary managers.
We know how important it is to take the time to get to know our clients and their advisers and to
understand what is needed from the relationship. Big enough to be taken seriously within the
industry, we are also small enough to provide a truly personal service – our clients and their advisers
will always be a name, not an account number, and will always be able to deal with the right person
to get the information they need when they need it.
We know our strengths. We stick to what we know we’re good at and we don’t want to diversify into
other areas. Our aim is to work with professional advisers and between us we can provide the
complete financial solution for clients.
3. Investment management
We are investment managers, not stock traders. We target long term, tax efficient returns in excess of
cash deposits, whilst controlling risk. To do this, we take a long term view on the trends influencing
financial markets and this forms the strategic core holdings in which we invest.
We have an unlimited range of investments from which to select so can take advantage of
opportunities as they arise across the full investment spectrum.
Diversification is essential to reduce the risks inherent in stock market investment. This is not
achieved simply by investing in different geographical areas, but also by having different and
independent sources of return within a portfolio so this is always a key consideration in our decision-
making process.
Our size means we can make timely investment decisions and are able to take immediate action if we
feel it necessary – we can move in and out of the market swiftly so are best placed to react to the
unforeseen circumstances that will always crop up to surprise investment managers everywhere.
Our investment management team spends every day monitoring the performance of current
holdings and investigating new opportunities using a range of research tools and meetings with
investment houses. We are always open to new ideas, but will never use investments that we neither
like nor understand.
4. `
Administration
All of our administration is carried out in-house so is as flexible and bespoke as our investment
management service.
We provide a nominee service free of charge for our discretionary clients. This enables the simple
and timely management of holdings without the need for our clients to hold paper certificates or
maintain accurate records of dividends and capital gains or losses for tax purposes.
Our standard reports package is easy to understand. The consolidated tax certificate and capital
gains tax report we produce for each client in April each year summarises all the information
necessary to complete a self-assessment tax return.
We provide our own ISA wrapper free of charge and can accept transfers into our ISA from other
managers, handling the entire transfer process from start to finish, also free of charge.
We have worked in partnership with professional advisers and wrapper providers for many years,
providing discretionary management and custody services for SIPPs, SSASs, offshore insurance
bonds, VCTs and Enterprise Investment Schemes. Our flexible can-do approach means we are
usually able to set up relationships with new providers quickly and efficiently.
