Jakarta is the capital city of the Republic of Indonesia, a
country composed of more than 13,000 islands with a
population of over 180 million. It is the center of the
nation's industrial, art, political and cultural life. The city
was later besieged by a young man named Fatahillah, who
hailed from a kingdom nearby Kalapa.
Fatahillah renamed Sunda Kalapa Jayakarta on 22 June 1527.
