2. What is the Race Across
America?
A 3,000-plus mile trip
from Oceanside, CA,
to Annapolis, MD
3. The RAAM is considered to be
the single toughest race in the
world. It eclipses the mileage
ridden in the Grand Tours of
Cycling, including the Tour de
France, all on a compressed
time frame.
What is the Race
Across America?
4. “ Racers dread the first day of RAAM more than any
other. The Sonoran Desert, like its cousin the Mojave to
the north, is one of Mother Nature’s cruelest and most
feared environments. This first part of the course is a
death zone. The scorching heat, desiccating air, and
windswept sand produce a discouraging number of
DNFs [Did Not Finish], even among race favorites.”1

What are the challenges?
5. How will analytics help?
Training = stress that
creates adaptation.
Recover and repeat.
8. Applying analytics to
build the best
engine & race
it optimally
Know self. Anticipate conditions. Optimize decisions.
9. Using the results
Race the engine
you have
There may be times when resting is
preferable to racing, or times that
racing harder will have much
higher rewards.

"Race Across America" A Film by Stephen Auerbach
This powerful documentary (raceacrossamericamovie.com) from award winning filmmaker Stephen Auerbach (bicycledreamsmovie.com) tells the inspirational story of the toughest race in the world. Half of the competitors don't finish, and many end up in the hospital. The journey is so intense that all who participate, and spectate are changed forever. Winner of the Boulder International Film Festival. RACE ACROSS AMERICA originally aired on NBC-TV, garnishing the highest Nielsen ratings ever for a cycling program in broadcast television history.

A few additional questions did come up that I wasn't sure about and wanted your input.
.The Expo Hours are as follows. Per the Expo Team, Sunday is the day with the most traffic. Will we want David to be available for Sunday and all of Monday?
.
.
.Will we need internet access at the site where David will be on his bike? If so, does it need to be a dedicated port or would the Wi-Fi for the Expo suffice.
.Will we want some sort of signage? If so, would something as simple as a "Monitor Wrap" that says "Analytics in Action" work or were you thinking something bigger, bolder, etc.?
.What about meals - Do we need to plan on special meals and meal times for David? (Lauren - please check with David on this.)
