Thinking Globally
By Hailey Church
What is thinking globally?
In my opinion, to think globally means to think about helping
more than just your own community. It means being selfless
when it comes to community service in a foreign community.
While there may be some issues where you live, there is a good
chance that there are more major issues somewhere else.
Someone who thinks globally would be willing to put aside their
own issues temporarily to focus more on life threatening issues
elsewhere or problems that put other countries in danger.
“Heal the world. Make it a better place for you and for me and
the entire human race.” –Michael Jackson
Current Event in Spain
Seven forest fires are spreading across the country, destroying
nearly everything in their paths. So far, they have affected at
least 1,000 hectares of forest.
“Never believe that a few caring people can’t change the world.
For, indeed, that’s all who ever have.” –Margaret Mead
Current Event in South
America
The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Columbia (FARC) used
explosives to destroy a transmission tower, leaving around
400,000 people in the city of Buenaventura without electricity.
“There are people dying. If you care enough for the living, make
a better place for you and for me.” –Michael Jackson
Current Event in Africa
An enormous gas field was discovered near the town of Port
Said, a town on the coast of northern Africa. It is the largest gas
field in the Mediterranean Sea, and it is estimated that it may
hold the equivalent of 5.5 billion barrels of oil.
“Don’t underestimate the power of your vision to change the
world. Whether that world is your office, your community, an
industry or a global movement, you need to have a core belief
that what you contribute can change the paradigm or way of
thinking about problems.” –Leroy Hood
Current Event in the Middle
East
ISIS destroyed an ancient temple, the Temple of Baal, in
Palmyra, Syria. The terrorist group flattened the main part of
the building along with a row of columns.
“In this place, you’ll feel there’s no hurt or sorrow. There are
ways to get there if you care enough for the living. Make a little
space. Make a better place.” –Michael Jackson
Current Event in Russia
When the United States began to organize military exercises
near Russia's border, Russian President Vladimir Putin reacted
by preparing his Northern Fleet for possible fighting. This
increased tension between the two countries, leaving both sides
on edge.
“No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of
another.” –Charles Dickens
Current Event in Japan
The amount of unemployed citizens in Japan has decreased to
2.22 million, a decline of about 260,000 over the past year.
According to the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare said that
"the ratio of job openings to job seekers in July stood at 1.21, up
0.02 point from the previous month."
“Heal the world we live in, save it for our children.” –Michael
Jackson
Current Event in England
Abdul Rahman Haroun, a 40 year old African man, walked 31
miles from Calais, France to Britain. However, his trip was made
in the Channel Tunnel, resulting in issues over illegal
immigration. The community is currently trying to decide
whether he should be punished or should be sent to an asylum
and be granted refuge in the country.
“You have not lived today until you have done something for
someone who can never repay you.” –John Bunyan

Lyrics to “Heal the World”
There's a place in your heart
And I know that it is love
And this place could be much
Brighter than tomorrow
And if you really try
You'll find there's no need to cry
In this place you'll feel
There's no hurt or sorrow
There are ways to get there
If you care enough for the living
Make a little space
Make a better place
Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me
And the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
Make it a better place
For you and for me
If you want to know why
There's love that cannot lie
Love is strong
It only cares of joyful giving
If we try we shall see
In this bliss we cannot feel
Fear of dread
We stop existing and start living
The it feels that always
Love's enough for us growing
So make a better world
Make a better place
Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me
And the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
Make a better place for you and for me
And the dream we were conceived in
Will reveal a joyful face
And the world we once believed in
Will shine again in grace
Then why do we keep strangling life
Wound this earth, crucify its soul
Though it's plain to see
This world is heavenly
Be god's glow
We could fly so high
Let our spirits never die
In my heart I feel you are all my brothers
Create a world with no fear
Together we cry happy tears
See the nations turn their swords into
plowshares
We could really get there
If you cared enough for the living
Make a little space
To make a better place
Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me
And the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
Make a better place for you and for me
Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me
And the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
Make a better place for you and for me
Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me
And the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
Make a better place for you and for me
There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
