1. The Two Sons
Jesus illustrated the importance of
backing up what we say with our actions
in His classic parable of the two sons.
Os dois filhos
Jesus deixou bem claro a importância de
corroborar nossas palavras com ações, na
parábola que contou sobre os dois filhos.

2. “There was a man who had two sons. He
went to the first and said, ‘Son, go and
work today in the vineyard.’
“Havia um homem que tinha dois filhos.
Chegando ao primeiro, disse: “Filho, vá
trabalhar hoje na vinha”.

3. ‘I will not,’ he answered,… Este respondeu: “Não quero!”

4. but later he changed his mind and went. Mas depois mudou de ideia e foi.

5. Then the father went to the other son and
said the same thing. He answered, ‘I will
go, sir,’…
O pai chegou ao outro filho e disse a
mesma coisa. Ele respondeu: “Sim,
senhor!”

6. but he did not go.” (Matthew 21:28-30) Mas não foi.” (Mateus 21:28-30)

7. Although the eldest son disobeyed in
the beginning, he later had a change
of heart and did his father’s bidding.
The second son’s promise to obey his
father turned out to be worthless,
because he didn’t keep it.
Apesar de o filho mais velho ter, no primeiro
momento, negado o pedido do pai, mais
tarde se arrependeu e lhe atendeu. A
promessa de obediência do segundo filho,
entretanto, não serviu de nada, porque não
foi cumprida.

8. John tells us in his first
epistle, “Dear children, let
us not love with words or
speech but with actions
and in truth.” (1 John 3:18)
Be sure of your convictions
and principles—and daily
put them into action.
