How many of us see ourselfs as Leaders? Can you state outright that you are a Leader? Leadership isn't for the happy few, it is for all of us. Everyone in the team can and must be a Leader, but you do need to step up to the plate. Scary isn't it... A lot of people feel that they aren't listened too in their team even when they are the subject matter expert? They have tried to state their views but the team didn't seem to listen to their point of view. And the frustrating part, the exact thing they warned about happened and they end up picking up the pieces. Seems familiar?

In this webinar Bram tells the fictitious story of Bob the tester who just started his new job after being educated in all the testing and quality principals. We will see how Bob starts from a happy, eager teammember almost on the top of his personal mountain but ends up slipping down the slopes through stages of stagefright, frustration and eventually giving up. We will look back at why he slipped and what he could have done to climb back up again. The takeaway is that you need to be on the top of the mountain, being proud, confidant and examplar so you will be seen as a Leader in your respective specialty.

  • I can give you some tips to help you chooseyour path. Be confident – trust your skills and yourspecialties. If you think you lack some knowledge, brush up on it. If you think you lack someexperience, go to tester gatherings, take on extraprojects on the side. Be proud – Stand behind yourwork and your specialty. Don’t let anyone tell youotherwise, especially “Management” outside yourteam. Be exemplar – Don’t be the guy that onlytalks and doesn’t deliver. If you as a tester expectprogrammers to deliver proof of their testing, youbetter have your own stuff in order. Walk the talkso to say.
