2. What’s this all about?
Virtual reality has been used for games and 3D movies but
Mozilla has been looking at the possibilities of viewing the web
through a third dimension.
And as part of the 10th anniversary celebrations for the Firefox
browser, the company have launched MozVR.com – a new
virtual reality playground.
3. The online 3D experience
With the help of Oculus Rift, Mozilla are hoping to showcase
the progress of a virtual reality web browsing experience. The
website itself is compatible with the Oculus Rift headset.
MozVR.com will be a platform to share experimental VR Web
experiences, provide resources and showcase work done by
developers.
4. Virtual reality demos
There are demonstration packs on Mozilla’s new website
which are accessible through a three-dimensional Rift-compatible
user interface.
These demos include a fly through of coastal British Columbia,
a visualisation of data presented as art and a Leap Motion-compatible
motion control demo.
